As Jack was pulled back from his dream back into reality, his heart pounded for a moment. It had been a sound that woke him, unfamiliar. He knew every sound in Rapture, but not that. He wondered if the city was collapsing and his life would end soon. Perhaps such an unrealistic idea came from the dream he had just escaped from.
The boy barely did sleep, he waited until he couldn't stay awake any long. For the smallest moment, his body begged him to stay down until his instincts kicked in. Find the source of the sound, kill it, return to normal life. At least, what he saw as normal now.
He stayed in the shadows, attempting to stay out of sight of any foes that could be lurking. He was stronger than anyone in Rapture, but he wasn't stupid enough to let his guard down. Upon reaching the source of the sound, he couldn't believe his eyes.
What stood in his view was familiar. A girl that he had seen so long ago. Her dark hair and fair skin seemed to look so much more real this time. There was no monster in the sea before her, only the woman stood alone.
Ever so slowly, he took quiet steps toward her. He didn't want to startle her. Like a butterfly on the surface, one loud noise or abrupt motion could scare her away. Who knew if she would ever return?
