she was never good with confrontation. even in her childhood, she had followed her elder siblings in whatever they decided to do and not much had changed into her adulthood. her desire to keep her head down had been severely tested over the past few weeks as she struggled to keep her new status as cursed a secret. but it seemed as though people still understood, perhaps sensing the latent predator that lurked in the new dark depths of her mind.
she had been cornered, just outside the cursed quarters, as she attempted to head home from another fruitless day of job searching. three men, each smelling more and more of booze, encroached her space, her back firm against the brick wall of some building. their gazes seemed to be a combination of leering and hatred, as sisi pleaded quietly to just return home.
“Please, I have no money for you. I just want to leave- I don’t want any trouble.” her voice betrayed none of the panic she felt internally, but she could feel her legs shaking beneather her.
“Don’ want no trouble? Yer whole kind is trouble- right lads?” the ringleader stepped forwards, a hand grabbing her bicep as she tried to jerk away.
