Cytolysis [サイトリシス] The pathological breakdown of a cell due to the bursting of the cell membrane caused by osmosis
If I place a cell in salty water what happens?
Well, that depends on the concentration of solute within the cell.
If the internal solute concentration of the cell is less than that of its surrounding environment (a hypertonic environment), water will proceed to osmos out of the cell until the internal and external concentrations reach equilibrium. In extremely-hypertonic solutions, plasmolysis may occur. That is, the cell will shrivel and may cease to function properly.
Now, if the internal solute concentration of the cell is more than that of its surrounding envrionment (a hypotonic solution), the opposite effect will occur. Water will osmos from the external environment into the cell until equilibrium is met. If the concentration within the cell is substantially greater than its environment, the net intake of water may result in the swelling and eventual bursting of the cell- called cytolysis.
sakura for the ask game 💕
i have very complicated thoughts about her because she is a one-dimensional character but also is a shounen woman so what can i expect. regardless she got too much screen time being obsessed with sasuke and not enough screen time being a lesbian and making out with ino
