Anyone who knew Johnny at all could tell you he was stubborn. It was a simple fact of life, something pretty much synonymous with who he was. When the curfew was announced, he took it as a suggestion rather than a rule, hardly ever followed it. When Reed told him not to touch anything in the lab, Johnny insisted that he knew what everything did anyways and pretended it was some freak accident when something exploded. Stubbornly, he’d dig his heels into the sand and refuse to move, insisting that he knew what he was doing.
On days like today, that translated to taking on a group of demons on his own in the center of town, cell phone burning a metaphorical hole in his pocket. He didn’t need any help, and he certainly wasn’t going to call for anyone. That didn’t mean he was upset when a car flew over his head and took out a few of his enemies. Flying cars were always kinda cool.
He expected to see Ben when he turned around, because the Thing always had a habit of showing up at times when Johnny was being especially stubborn and kicking his ass for the hell of it. Instead, he was greeted with a flash of green too small to be the Avengers’ Hulk, and he found himself grinning. “I can’t believe She-Hulk was staring at my ass,” he mused loudly enough for Jen to hear, turning to the nearest demon as if drawing it into conversation. “How long do you think she was back there? I bet she got a real good look. It looks great in these pants, you know.”
