If Damien was home then Jeonghan was always used to a happy greeting, the demon calling out to him and giving him hugs and kisses. That was normal but what wasn’t quite so normal was the demon’s excitement as he bounded over. It instantly had Jeonghan smiling, whatever made Damien so happy made him happy too, and he closed the door behind himself to make sure their animals didn’t get out as they too came over to greet Jeonghan and see what was going on, but as Jeonghan tried to ask what it was he instead found himself giggling as kiss after kiss was pressed to his lips.

“Hyung…Damien…” he giggled out the words in between kisses, Teddy looking up at them with his tail wagging and Abby winding around his legs, less than a year ago he would have never believed that his life would end up like this but he was so happy. He had someone who loved him, pets who loved him too, he had a warm and loving home filled with care for the first time in his life. “Hyung..what happened?” he managed to finally get the question out as more giggles passed his lips.

This wasn’t an achievement he had achieved alone but something that he believed to be a joint effort. Alone he doubted he would ever have managed to come as far as he did and while he didn’t need expensive gifts, the laptop he had been given for the purpose of writing further showed his boyfriends full support. This book was theirs and he was growing even more excited at the question he would soon be asking. It was something they had talked about but it was no longer dream and he could actually ask the younger to illustrate the book.

“Mmmm...” He didn’t reply straight away and instead pressed a loving and lingering kiss against his boyfriend’s lips while his arms squeezed him. “James loved my book... He’s going to publish it.” He was quiet in his words, a little breathless as if he had been running despite the fact he had been doing nothing but sitting and waiting. His excitement had taken his breath away but he refused to let it take his words. “I... will you draw for it? You’ll be paid and...and this will be our book.”

Jeonghan had been trying to hold it back all day, the images in an art exhibition he had been helping set up having sent his mind haywire. Jeonghan was a traditional artist but there were other forms of art, the exhibition being set up was for more contemporary art and so with it was imagery Jeonghan would never normally willingly expose himself to. It had been imagery of restraints, but most of all a collar and chain lead, that had tripped him up and while he had been able to excuse himself and go home the images had played on his mind of the rest of the day.

It was hard to explain, he would never try to explain, but the imagery had reflected so strongly on how he had felt for so long and how he continued to feel in so many ways. Out of control, being led along and tugged to wherever he was needed with a collar pressing down hard enough on his throat to prevent him from talking even if he had somehow figured out it was wrong. It wasn’t living a life, it was being pulled along in the life someone else wanted for him and he was overwhelmed by how one image had those feelings all crashing down onto him.

He had been tackling welling tears for hours but as Damien appeared behind him, held him, he couldn’t hold them back anymore. He let out a sob, turning into the demon’s embrace, and in his head he could hear his Father screaming. What was there to cry over? He was acting like a baby! He could hear it all in his head.

“H-Hyung-”

Since he had come back with control over his ability, Damien had rarely used it on his boyfriend. Finally he could give the younger his privacy and allow his thoughts to remain purely his own rather than share with no choice. It was nice to have peace and finally feel like he was respecting his boyfriend more than he had been able to do before but the second Jeonghan had stepped through the door, Damien had suspected that something was up.

The demon had soon been listening into the others mind, hoping that he was wrong and misreading the situation because the last thing he wanted was for his lovable boyfriend to be sad when he really did deserve to be happy. But upon listening in he was all caught up on what happened and wanting nothing more than to give his boyfriend some much needed comfort. 

“You aren’t acting like a baby.” He whispered softly in reply to the unspoken thoughts and worries in his mind. Damien had been caught crying many times and not once had Jeonghan judged him and so he would try and remind him that it was okay, try and have his boyfriend’s kindness upon himself. “You always told me it’s okay to cry, Hannie. You never judged me so please...don’t judge yourself. It’s okay.” He kept his tone soft and lightly rubbed the younger’s back. “You aren’t a baby. You’re so strong.”

"Hyung" his voice was soft as he lifted his arms up, raising up on his knees so that he could wrap his arms around the demon's shoulder and pull him into a hug. He said nothing more than that at first, his eyes closed as he just held his boyfriend, but he soon spoke up in a soft whisper "I love you so much, Damien"

Damien didn’t lift his head when he heard the younger speak because he simple couldn’t. He was so ashamed to once again been found in such a weak and fragile state. The male wanted to be strong for his boyfriend, to be someone he could rely on and yet so often it had been the younger male worrying and taking care of him. 

When arms wrapped around him, he closed his eyes and held his breath with worry that being held would have him crying all over again. “I love you too...I’m sorry.”

His head turned when Damien pulled him in closer, his nose nudging against Damien’s shoulder before nuzzling into it as he closed his eyes. He wondered, he thought about it a lot, but at the same time he knew that it didn’t matter now. Damien was right, he was gone, and so if he had any plans they never worked out in the end. Jeonghan was a wasted investment, he was sure that was how his adoptive father saw it “I know..” he replied, his voice a mumble.

“Mm” he let out a hum, he could pick up numerous things at once, but he didn’t know where Damien was going with this. Picking Damien up and moving him was very different to the extent of what he could do, Damien had a taste of that when Jeonghan lifted up walls in his mind to quieten his mind reading, but whatever it was Damien suggested he was thankful that the demon trusted him enough to suggest anything at all.

“You are amazing, my little bunny.” He knew that Jeonghan’s thoughts were drifting to sadder thoughts and so he wanted him to pull him back and make him smile as he really deserved to do. “I love you so, so much.” He whispered before gently cupping his boyfriend’s cheeks and softly kissing his lips. “You know I’ll...always be here and always..take care of no matter what. I promise.” And he would never break a promise.

“Okay!” Damien was quickly on his feet and pulling the cushions off the couch and onto the floor before he started on moving the table for some room. It would be something that both of them could do, though perhaps separately since there wasn’t too much room for the game he had in in mind. “I...I heard kids play something about...the floor is lava so..” He pointed down at the cushions. “So...so you have to help me get from one end of the room to the other and...the cushions can’t touch the lava either,” He really hoped Jeonghan got what he meant.

Jeonghan, as he often was, was curled up on the couch with Abby next to him as he continued with a sketch he had started that day. He was bundled up warm, the cozy socks Damien had gotten him on his feet and the sleeved blanket wrapped around him, and he smiled up at Damien as he entered the room.

“Hm..?” he let out a curious hum as he placed his sketch pad on his lap, reaching out for the offered bag with a slight hint of a confused furrow on his brow. Jeonghan didn’t have a good immune system, he didn’t have the chance to have it strengthen through exposure as he grew up, and so he easily got many bugs and with how cold he could get sniffles and coughs were common place. Damien had probably heard him think that at some stage, that wouldn’t have surprised him, but to have Damien act on that was enough to leave him smiling affectionately as he looked up at his boyfriend after peeking into the bag “I…thank you” his smile grew as he spoke “I’ll be sure to use all of it”

It had been something the demon had picked up in the other’s thoughts and that with the knowledge Jeonghan often felt the cold had led him into buying what he had done. He loved his boyfriend so of course it upset him to think of the younger being sick and so he would do all he could to try and help him avoid it or take care of him if he did. “I...you don’t need to thank me. I just...want to make sure you’re okay.” He mumbled shyly with a blush. The demon worried it may have been a stupid idea, one showed too much worry when none was needed but he really just wanted to take care of Jeonghan. “But...you could give me a kiss to say thank you...maybe?”

Damien was at the cafe 5 minutes earlier than they had arranged to meet up but he was going by the thought that it was always better to be early than late. He pushed open the door and stepped inside, ordering a coffee and carrying it over to one of the tables by the window so he could busy himself in watching the world go by while he waited for his friend to arrive.

"Hyung?" Jeonghan was fiddling with his hair as he stepped inside their shared home and he called out to his boyfriend, the hair freshly dyed a soft pink and a cut a little making the ends and his hair in general just look fresher. They had spoken about it before he had done it and it had taken a few days to get an appointment but now it was done and he hoped that Damien liked it, he still worried that he might even if they had already seen it thanks to the demon's glamour spell.

“Hmm?” The demon tore his attention away from the documentary he had been watching about animals in the Antarctic and looked up at his boyfriend. There was a second of shock that showed in the widening of his eyes as Damien found himself looking at the new hair of the younger. They had spoken about it and he had seen it but it hadn’t been mentioned when so the sudden change was a little bit of a surprise, not that it was a bad thing. “Your hair…looks really nice.” As the shock subsided a genuine smile pulled at his lips as he got up to his feet and made the few steps across the room till he was standing in front of Jeonghan, fingers gently stroking through his hair. “It really suits you….you look beautiful.”
