Happy Pride Month LGBT+ Celebrities (8/30) D'Lo All the work that I’ve gotten has been beautifully queer and beautifully allows me to be not just… transgender, but also playing transgender characters. I feel very fortunate.
A-KING.
#tdov: I interviewed D’Lo
“I teach this workshop with queer and trans first generation or South Asian immigrants. I believe that in doing deep reflective work, we as queer and trans people find more freedom. And in these workshops, I'm basically asking: “What of the easy way through this creative process is actually you trying to mask your pain caused by internalized phobias?” lt seems to be the rock that cracks glass. There's no limit for unlearning.
As a comic, rapper, poet, and actor in projects like Mr. Robot and Sense8, D'Lo is a queer transgender Tamil Sri Lankan-American whose aim is to "create meaning in everything I do".
I’m creating a celebratory archive of creating visibility for some of our community’s most famous influencers (ie: the creator of TDOV, the creator of the Transgender Day of Remembrance, two-spirits, inventors, and Academy Award performers). Please, please join along! Feel free to join the conversation, or just add #stayvisible2019 to your trans day of visibility post!
I hope all of you who are celebrating the transgender day of visibility check this blog out - I have 8 other interviews as well!
Don't trip off the multiple labels used to describe the award-winning actor/writer/comedian D’Lo OR his work -- just get into it. The queer/transgender Tamil-Sri Lankan-American seems to be able to do it all: stand-up comedy, theater, film and music production, poetry and spoken word. Learn more: https://www.dlocokid.com
