“You didn’t have to do this, you know?” Eon mused, sliding into the booth across from Eve, grainy 80′s rock playing from the sound system. The diner’s tacky wallpaper and bright red booths brought back years and years of memories; every birthday for as long as he could remember he and Eve had gone to get dinner in the diner and it seemed his 21st wasn’t going to go by as the exception. “I’m not seven anymore.” 

Despite his protests, a soft smile threatened to ruin his mask of indifference.
