The basement reminded Forrest of the corn maze he had briefly spotted during his time at the festival, the maze which he had avoided entirely due to the fact that he hated not being able to see the exit. The hellhound had been uneasy since he’d seen the castle in the late afternoon, being inside it was a whole different kind of foreboding. It turned his blood to ice and made the presence in the back of his head all the more prominent.
As he attempted to gather his thoughts into something semi-coherent worth voicing, a misplaced step caused a small pile of junk to collapse with a series of thuds directly followed by several large shapes scurrying across the slick floor toward them. Nudging the person next to him out of the way as one rushed right at them, Forrest held his breath, hoping they would be drawn to the boxes and not the group of unwilling guests. “My apologies. Are you alright?” He asked in a low whisper, checking over the person he’d pushed the best he could in the dim lighting. “Provided the circumstances, I mean.”

Finding Oliver proved harder than Beau had anticipated. The man was the only reason he’d even considered going to the event in the first place and he’d be damned if he went the night without meeting him and providing him with the dance he’d requested from him. He hoped there would also be a chance to request a midnight kiss if he didn’t already have an offer. It wasn’t the kind of thing he usually had much of an urge to participate in, but he didn’t normally want to go to parties either. It seemed all it took to change his mind was a pretty face and good company.
Making his way around the edges of the crowd, he finally spotted Oliver amongst the crowd. Pausing to adjust his jacket, he approached the man from behind, resting a hand on his shoulder. “Good evening, Oliver. If I didn’t know better, I’d accuse you of making an attempt to avoid me this evening. You’re quite hard to track down in this crowd.”

“Yeah, that’s me. Baker-slash-server-slash wherever I’m needed. My name’s Gabriel, it’s nice to properly meet you,” he smiled, taking a seat on the bench beside him. The park really was beautiful, Gabriel was constantly in. awe of earth and humanity and all that there was to see and experience - all that they had moulded from his father’s creation. “You’re Arynn, right? Spelled with a y and two n’s?"
Leaning back against the bench, he rested an arm around the back, tilting his head back to enjoy the feeling of the sun against his skin. “It’s a really nice park, huh? Peaceful. You come out here a lot?”

Getting to the bottom of whatever was happening in Beacon Hills seemed like an impossible task for just one man, which is why Kaleb didn’t plan on doing it alone. However, there was some prep work he needed to do before he tried to speak with the McCall pack, which meant the library first and then a club or bar where he could meet people who actually had personal experience with Beacon Hills and it’s residence.
Once the library was checked off his to-do list, he headed to the bar where he’d interviewed the week before to start casual conversation and make connections. Social graces didn’t come naturally to him - living isolated in the woods as a pack of feral werewolves didn’t leave much time for pleasantries - but he’d had plenty of practice and he’d always been quick on the uptake.
Undoing the first few buttons of his shirt when he walked in, he was hit in the face with the cacophony of scent that accompanied venues with so many people. It was hard to tell who was and wasn’t supernatural without getting closer and, in the end, he wasn’t sure it mattered (he’d heard rumors of human pack members); so he plastered a genuine smile on his face and sat down at the bar, unphased by the slightly sticky counter.
“Is it normally this busy?” He asked the person next to him, leaning forward, his elbows resting against the counter.

“Oh...sorry,” Nolan said quickly, when he’d finally snapped out of his thoughts enough to realize someone was standing behind him probably wanting to buy tortillas sometimes within the next hour. Stepping to the side, he picked at his cuticles, mentally scolding himself for not staying in the present while he was in public.

“This is stupid! Fuck Deaton, we should’ve stayed anyway,” Liam grumbled, slamming the door to his apartment and kicking his shoes off, letting them stay wherever they landed. They’d been kicked out of the animal clinic by Deaton and told to go sleep or something - like that was actually going to happen - and he hated every second of it. Lori was back, she was safe, but he wanted her to stay that way. He wanted to make sure she was still there with his own eyes, which was impossible when he was across town in his stupid apartment that smelled like her.
He sighed, at least it gave him a chance to feed Augustus, who was already sitting by his bowl staring as soon as they’d opened the door. “Alright, bud, give me a sec.”
