Quicksilver was an asshole.

Tommy didn’t really know the guy, but he knew that much for sure. It was pretty obvious just by looking at him, honestly. He ran around with his stupid accent and his dumb hair and worked with the Avengers. It was stupid, he was stupid! He was also definitely not faster than Tommy. Anyone who implied otherwise was both an asshole and a liar, and Tommy was more than willing to prove it. 

Unlike a lot of people -- specifically, members of his own team came to mind -- Tommy wouldn’t bother lying about why he’d cornered Pietro Maximoff in an alley. He wouldn’t make up some excuse about fighting crime or doing good. He was honestly here to race and, depending on the results of said race, to throw punches. At least he’d managed to remember to change into his Speed outfit to preserve his secret identity. Kate was always saying that was important.

“Hey, Snaily,” he greeted with a brief wave. “Wanna race?”

Wanda’s offer to spend time at her place wasn’t one Johnny really meant to take her up on. He was intent on spending time with his father, dead set on getting to know the man, but it was easier said than done. Sometimes, Johnny just needed a goddamn break.

Wanda wasn’t home when he let himself in, and it only took about a  moment of internal debate before Johnny shrugged and collapsed onto the couch, propping his feet up and closing his eyes with a sigh. He wasn’t sure how  long he’d been sitting there when he heard the door beginning to open. Sitting up, he turned towards the noise with a faint smile, only to be disappointed when Pietro stepped through the door.

“Oh,” he muttered, leaning back against the couch and not bothering to hide the disappointment in his tone. “Hey.”

Since the New Year’s party, things had been quiet. If Gwen was being honest, she hated it. The silence was a tense one, like they were all waiting on the other shoe to drop, and Gwen had never been particularly good at waiting. She didn’t mean to swing over to Wanda’s fully clad in her Spider-Woman uniform, but that was where she wound up all the same. Pushing the window open, she stepped inside the apartment, feet landing softly on the floor. 

“Hey, Wanda!” She called, shutting the window behind her and making her way out into the living room. “Wanna go out on a patrol? I was thinking we could see if we can find anything out about --- “ Her mouth snapped shut quickly, eyes wide behind the mask. Instead of Wanda, it was Pietro sitting on the couch. Pietro, who definitely didn’t know that Gwen Stacy was Spider-Woman. Shit. Nice going, Gwensday. “Uh,” she stammered, because in no universe was Gwen great under pressure. “Quicksilver! You’re Quicksilver, right? I’m ---- Hi! I was looking for Scarlet Witch, actually, I was just --- Hi.”

Though this was her first time meeting him, there was one thing Lorna absolutely knew for sure about Pietro Maximoff: he was an idiot. Why else would he challenge fucking Colossus to an arm wrestling competition? If what she’d heard was true, this wasn’t even the first time he’d made that mistake which, if anything, made it worse. 

This was, however, the first time Lorna had been asked to help with the situation. She’d been walking by the room where the aforementioned arm wrestling competition apparently took place when one of the kids sheepishly stepped into her path and asked her if she could please help them get Quicksilver down from the rafters. The poor kid seemed terrified the Avengers would retaliate if they left him up there to rot, otherwise Lorna might have suggested he find his own way down. If she found herself floating up to the rafters, using the steel-toed boots on her feet and metal bracelets on her wrists to lift her up, it was only because she didn’t want the kid to be upset.

“So,” she said when she was eye-level with what she hoped was Pietro. (How many white-haired mutants could they realistically have stuck in the rafters? It was probably a dangerous question to ask.) “I’m guessing this isn’t the best idea you’ve ever had. Although, I’ve gotta be honest, just from looking at you, I’m pretty sure it’s not the worst.” She offered him a good-natured smile to let him know she was messing with him. “You need a hand?”

It took Johnny all of two seconds to decide that this whole power switcharoo bullshit fucking sucked. He couldn’t quell the panic in his chest, the fear that his powers weren’t going to come back. Wanda’s powers were badass as hell, of course, but ever since the fateful trip to space that left him the Torch, Johnny had defined himself by his abilities. He knew exactly what it meant to be the Human Torch. But Johnny Storm? At this point, Johnny Storm might as well be a stranger.

Still, the worst part of all this shit wasn’t the existential crisis or the way he kept accidentally reading his girlfriend’s mind. No, the worst fucking part of this was the fact that, in the back of his mind, Johnny could feel Pietro fucking Maximoff just hanging out, thinking. What gave him the fucking right, honestly? Johnny found it impossible not to be pissed as he marched up to the apartment the twins shared, pounding on the door. 

“Stop! Fucking! Thinking!” He demanded, punctuating each word with a knock. “I’m trying to, like, I don’t know! Get shit done!” He wasn’t, really -- there wasn’t much he could ‘get done’ right now, not when even working on his latest project car lead to him accidentally reality-warping his wrench into a hammer with a fleeting thought -- but Pietro didn’t have to know that. Except, Pietro did know that now, because Johnny could feel the thought slipping through the stupid fucking bond, and this was officially the worst thing that ever happened to him. Screw everything else! Being orphaned wasn’t nearly as awful as sharing his thoughts with Pietro Maximoff! Johnny let his head fall against the door with a groan.

She wasn’t sure exactly how it happened, but since meeting him at Stark’s party, Gwen had gone from feeling stupidly jealous of Pietro to actually enjoying spending time around him. At first, that had just meant being a little more friendly when she ran into him around the apartment, but now it had progressed to setting up Peter’s game console for the two of them to spend the afternoon playing Mario Kart on their own. It didn’t feel forced or awkward at all. In fact, Gwen found herself actively looking forward to spending time with Pietro, the way she might with MJ, Peter, or Kate. 

When a knock sounded on the door, she grinned and pulled it open, smile widening when she caught sight of the box in Pietro’s hands. “Oh my god,” she stated, ushering him inside and practically snatching the baked goods away from him. “You brought food. You’re a hero. I’m buying every single bit of Quicksilver merchandise I can find. I’m officially you’re number one fan, Pietro!”

Whatever weird magic had caused everyone in town to swap bodies, Lorna was monumentally glad not to be a part of it. Unfortunately, many of the people in her life weren’t quite as lucky. The mansion was overstuffed with both people who’d suddenly found themselves in the bodies of its occupants and occupants in the wrong bodies who didn’t feel comfortable leaving their home, and to say Lorna was exhausted would have been an understatement. She wanted nothing more than to go for a nap but the universe, it seemed, had other things in mind.

She didn’t recognize the woman who showed up in her room until she started talking. Despite the different voice, tones, and accent, she gathered pretty quickly just who was babbling at her. Groaning, she walked over to her bed and collapsed onto the mattress, pulling her pillow stubbornly over her head. “Why is this happening to me?” She asked rhetorically, looking up at the ceiling as if expecting an answer. “Why is my brother in some girl’s body talking my ear off? I don’t deserve this.” Turning to Pietro, she wrinkled her nose and rolled her eyes. “The whole ‘endless talking’ thing isn’t as funny without your superspeed, just so you know.”

Well everyone’s a superhero in their own way so maybe they weren’t prank calls.

That is the biggest line of garbage I've ever heard. Not everyone's a superhero, only those with out of this world abilities are, hence the 'super' prefix to the word hero.
