This might have been said before but so far I haven’t seen it addressed and it hit me hard today. In Origins, your Warden and Alistair (and your dog which is something akin to a Grey Warden because of that flower you got for it otherwise how would it be licking darkspawn blood off of your armor for the whole game), everyone else in your party are not Grey Wardens. Not safe(ish) from the taint.
Can you imagine all the stress the Warden and Alistair must have felt everytime their party was fighting with darkspawn. One bite and that companion is done for. Especially for Wardens that romanced someone other than Alistair. To have to fight alongside your friends and LI, worrying about them getting scratched or bitten or getting darkspawn blood in them in any possible way. The feeling of duty, that you have to be there to stand between them and the darkspawn cause you, you are the one who’s immune. The horror of being separated by them in the heat of battle and being unable to assist them. The careful cleaning afterwards so that they won’t come in contact with darkspawn blood on their weapons and armor. How miraculous it is that after a year of constantly fighting darkspawn, all of them survive.
(Especially for Dalish Wardens that have already lost someone very important to them to the taint.*cough* Tamlen *cough*)
