what people seem to be a little willfully ignorant of is that, at some point, thomas and o’brian were almost genuinely friends. like „sending eachother letters to/from the front” friends. also if there wasnt at least a little trust between them i dont think they would know eachothers secrets in such detail (the precise thing that caused cora to misscarry). plus late s2/ early s3 i was nearly sure they were setting something up for her because she started to mellow out a little and was almost sympathetic towards other characters. in general she started getting out of the hole she and thomas dug for themselves. all the while thomas was almost universally nasty but he gets the benefit of the doubt
