Dean takes Cas and Jack out fishing on a little boat, thinking it’ll be a nice “normal” family outing for them - his exact words.

Two hours later, he is losing his mind. For an immortal being, Cas has no patience and he keeps complaining that the fish won’t bite. That’s affecting Jack, making him all squirrelly and the two of them are making so much noise, it’s scaring away all the fish, only Cas tells Dean, no, you’re the one making all the noise, yelling at us to be quiet. 

So Dean is pissed and Cas is pissed and the whole trip looks like a wash, until Jack finally catches something. It’s not a big fish - actually, it’s so small that Dean suggests they throw it back in the water, which he feels like kind of a heel about, but Jack just nods. 

Things settle after that. Cas stops complaining and at Jack’s urging tells them about fishing techniques the Neanderthals used. They keep fishing for a couple of hours, catching a few more fish, most of which they throw back in the water.

Later, as they’re back by the car and packing up, Cas pulls Dean in for a quick kiss and tells him, “This was a good idea.”

“Yeah?” Dean asks. “Even with the yelling?”

“As I understand it, the yelling is an integral part in any “normal” family outing.”
