mingyu as a first time dad! ♡

mingyu would be so eager for a baby once the two of you were married. he’d talk about it so often and when you finally found out you were pregnant he was the happiest man on earth

he tried to be as confident and reassuring to you throughout the pregnancy, but internally mingyu was nervous at the thought that he was going to be a dad and be responsible for a little life

he would get more and more excited as your due date got closer and he’d want to build the crib and design the nursery as soon as possible. he’d definitely be the type of dad to buy a puppy a few months before she’s born so that you can raise them together

mingyu teared up in awe when he found out he was going to have a daughter. he never stopped kissing your belly and he’d stay up at night with you when you couldn’t sleep from her kicking, talking about the future when you would be parents

once your baby girl is born, mingyu is a changed person. his heart melts when he holds her in his arms for the first time and he can’t help but cry because she’s so tiny and he never wants her to grow up

you don’t even recognise your husband who used to sleep through 29716 missed alarms when he jolts awake in the middle of the night to tend to your crying baby. he’d tell you to stay in bed and that “he’s got this” while he manages to walk into every wall and door on the way out as he stumbles half asleep to her nursery

mingyu is definitely the baby carrier dad. he has her strapped to him 24/7, when he’s taking her grocery shopping or even cleaning around the house. he also loves to chat with her all the time, telling her about his day and asking about hers, to which she can only babble back to him

he’s the best multitasker too. you’d come home after a long day to find your husband mid conversation with your baby while he’s somehow simultaneously feeding her and unloading the groceries.

your daughter is clearly a mama’s girl from early on, which mingyu of course sulks about. she’s always reaching out and wanting to be held by you, even though mingyu tries to get her to come to him by holding her favourite toys. “why won’t you love me too, hm?” he’d joke, before placing kisses all over her little face to make her giggle

of course her first word is ‘mama’, which mingyu pretends to be upset about at first but he can’t hide how proud he is of his baby. he’d still quietly encourage her to say his name, and pout when she can only repeat your name back to him

she first says ‘dada’ while he’s feeding her a bottle one day. he’s holding her close against his chest as she stares at him and says the word he’s been waiting to hear. mingyu immediately drops and spills the bottle in shock, before he starts calling for you and trying to make your baby repeat it (which she of course wouldn’t and you’d accuse him of lying)

mingyu is the type of dad to hold her up and try to get her to walk around the house. he loves putting her in those little walkers because he can’t get over how cute she is and he takes a million videos of her stumbling around. he’s home alone with her when she takes her first steps, and he definitely cries before video calling you immediately to show you

even though he’s a new dad, fatherhood would suit him so well. the sight of a tall handsome muscular man holding his daughter in one arm and her pink sparkly backpack in the other - it’s no wonder other parents can’t help but stare at your husband when he drops her off at daycare (in other words he’s a dilf)

mingyu loves being a girl dad. he loves tying her hair nearly into two little pigtails every morning for school, and he’s front row for every single ballet recital. mingyu loves to dress his daughter in the cutest outfits and will sit and watch the same barbie movie for the 100th time just because it’s her favourite

mingyu has a very close relationship with his daughter and he is obsessed with daddy daughter dates. he loves driving with her to the beach or parks and walking around hand in hand (he doesn’t mind crouching awkwardly because of the height difference) before sitting and sharing an ice cream together

he cannot help himself from spoiling his little princess. he would literally do anything to make her happy, including staying up late at night before her birthday to bake her cakes to take to school the next day for her classmates or buying her favourite toys in every single colour available

mingyu hates taking on the discipline role because he never wants to upset his daughter. he finds it so hard to say no to her, but thankfully she’s really well behaved and listens to her parents so he rarely gets angry at her

he’s the proudest dad ever of every achievement and he’d 100% be the dad to embarrass his daughter by getting out of his seat and moving closer to the stage to get a better photo

mingyu’s daughter is super friendly and smart, and gets along with every single one of his member’s kids too since they grew up together. mingyu is also definitely everyone’s favourite uncle and he’s always in charge of driving his daughter and her friends anywhere they want to go

overall, mingyu would be obsessed with his little girl and be the most loving dad ever !!!

BS: The Return of Superman “Growing Pains” Part 1. Guess who’s back with us today.

LM: Hello everyone, thank you for all your kind words while I was away. Thankfully my wife and daughter, Minji, helped me get over this cold. I can't wait to meet our next family.

BS: Unlike other family’s we begin with the bright lights of the photo studio, perhaps our superman or superwomen could possibly be a model. Who could be behind the camera?

“Wow, you’re doing so well Minjeong-ah. Smile towards the camera.” the cameraman coos as your oldest daughter poses cutely in front of the white paper background.

LM: Whose daughter is this? She’s absolutely adorable. She’s like a delicate flower.

Sitting down on a chair off-camera, you carefully monitor the photos captured as they’re uploaded onto a computer.

Your two-year-old daughter Minhye, who comfortably sits on the fluffy fabric on your pale white dress admiring the photos while trying to hide from the cameras. “Do you like my dress baby?”

Minhye nods before pointing widely at her older sister, “Mommy’s dress is pretty.” before gently cupping your face in her tiny chubby hands.“It’s like Unnie’s dress.”

LM: Looks like Miss Minjeong has finished up and is now making her way to her mother.

She cautiously walks over the camera and lights wires before making her way towards you and her sister. Climbing onto your lap she looks carefully at the photos on the screen.

A smile lights up her face as she admires how nice they turn out before tilting her head in confusion. “Mommy, what are these photos for?”

“We’re taking photos for Appa’s father’s day present,” you say as you carefully brush down the flyaways in her hair, the camera pans up to ultimately reveal your face to the camera.

BS: Looks like our supermom is South Korea’s breakout plus-size supermodel who has taken the modelling industry by storm, Kim Y/N.

Minhye looks around her before frantically tugging at your hand “Mommy where did Appa go?” concern immediately flooding her face as she searches. Minjeong joins, inspecting the room.

“He’s busy dressing Minjae and Wooyoo up for the family photo.” You assure your anxious daughters. Their worries are cut short by the sound of a nearby door open.

Your husband comes into the room supporting your son in one hand while getting tugged by the leash in the other as your family samoyed runs towards you.

LM: Please say hello to our first superman this episode, seventeen's friendly, visual giant, Kim Mingyu.

“Sorry for the wait everyone, I got a little tangled up with the dog.” He says trying to untangle himself from Wooyoo’s leash causing your little girls to giggle loudly.

“Hello everyone, I’m international plus-size model, Y/N. I’m the mother of four-year-old Minjeong, two-year-old Minhye and 3-month old Minjae.” You say pointing out each child individually.

Minjeong sits comfortably on Mingyu’s right leg while Minhye sits on the other while hiding herself in his chest. Minjae is cradled quietly in your arms as he drinks his milk bottle.

“I’m Seventeen’s visual rapper, Y/N’s husband, Kim Mingyu,” he says bowing carefully to make sure he does not squish the girls. “Thank you for having us on your show.”

What’s your name?

“Sleepy.”

Mingyu look at Minjeong as he gently rubs the top of her head, “Are you really tired?” She nods slowly before twisting her father’s hand toward’s the direction of her bedroom.

“Hold on sweetheart.” Mingyu realizes his mic is getting pulled as well. “The mic is stuck in your hair.” She stands still for a bit but begins to whine impatiently.

Her whines seem to trigger her siblings to do the same, as Minhye quietly yawns and Minjae softly cries in your arms. You and Mingyu abruptly decide to set the kids down for their nap.

You and Mingyu give a deep bow, after returning back into the room. “Sorry, the kids can be particular when it comes to nap time. We should’ve remembered.” Your husband explains as the two of you carefully sit back down in your chairs.

Let’s try a different question; how did you two meet?

“The first time we met seventeen was having a special shoot with dispatch inside a stadium. Y/N had been working part-time at their restaurant and served us drinks and food during our break.” Mingyu recalled.

“We actually had a mutual friend; Yugyeom of Got7 introduce us to each other again at his 26th birthday party. From there we would become best friends until one day he asked if I thought of him as more than that.”

“I immediately asked her to be my girlfriend after she had told me the same way, we started dating, moving into our first apartment together and adopting our dog Wooyoo.”

“Suddenly, 9 months after Mingyu returned from his time in the military we had our first daughter Minjeong.” Mingyu bites his lips before concealing his flushed coloured face in his hands as you spoke.

“I proposed to Y/N on Jeongie’s 1st birthday and we had planned to get married the same year. However, it had to be pushed back after we found out Y/N was pregnant again with Minhye.”

“We got married a couple of months after Minhye turned one but quickly after our honeymoon I became pregnant with little Minjae.”

Have the two of you thought about having more kids?

“I think we can agree we’d love to have another baby, but our current living conditions are just too small to accommodate for another addition,” Mingyu says while rubbing his chin.

Nodding in agreement, “We’ll definitely need to find a bigger apartment before we have another baby.”

Do you have anything you’d like to say to the viewers of Return of Superman?

“I'd like by starting off saying thank you for giving our family the opportunity to join the Return of Superman: Idol. I hope we can teach everyone that our kids are teaching us just as much as we’re teaching them.”

Episode Five:

Sous Chef

The tiny two year old boy struggled to pick up the huge watering can, even in it's empty condition the metal vessel was too big for the child to pick up on his own. Not such an impossible task for his 6 foot father who easily picked up both his son and the watering can.

Kim Dongmin was quite the opposite of his dad at the present time. He was tiny, smaller than other kids his age, probably due to the fact that he was born a month too early. He wasn't loud like Mingyu, nor was he a total foodie. He was picky about his food and usually didn't eat anything his father hadn't made. He wasn't talkative and didn't have any friends outside the Seventeen kids. Seungjae was his best friend and the only one he could stick to all day without his attention straying.

Mingyu was quite shocked his son got none of his qualities, even disappointed sometimes at the beginning but he started noticing small episodes of his son being basically the second Kim Mingyu and he started noticing them increasing day by day as his son started spending more time with him.

The most noticeable trait was the clumsiness, dropping things here and there, breaking a few toys a day, slipping and falling every few minutes and giggling it off since he was used to his own clumsiness. Those moments the other members found the father and son pair identical, the same wide grin with pointed canines and the same giggles and puppy face. Kim Mingyu and Kim Dongmin were father and son indeed.

Mingyu carried his son out to their greenhouse that also worked as a backyard, two small benches on the opposite sides of the rectangular area covered by glass on all sides and overhead. He had worked hard to grow the herbs necessary for his food along with the basic vegetables and also a corner for flowers that Dongmin absolutely loved.

As expected, as soon as Mingyu set his son down, Dongmin ran straight to the flowers, squatting down to see the condition of the new shoot that had come out of the earth a few weeks ago, hopefully one that would bloom with sunflowers in due time. Dongmin was so excited about the plant because it was gifted by his favourite uncle, his sunshine uncle.

"Dongmin-ah come here." Mingyu smiled fondly at his son trying to see if the flowers had arrived yet, a little sad about their absence. His young brain could not understand why this took so much time and why his father's promise of the pretty flowers arriving soon was extending more day by day.

"Papa when will the flowers come?" Dongmin frowned and asked his father, climbing into his lap as he worked on filling up a pot with soil and scattering the seeds. Mingyu kissed his son's head and made him pat down the soil properly after he put on his own little gardening gloves.

"They'll come soon buddy, just some more time." Mingyu said softly, brushing the mess of hair on his son's head carefully with his bare hand, standing up with him after he was done, watering the can, Dongmin helping as much as he could with his tiny hands only touching the bottom of the can like he could support it, causing Mingyu to laugh at his son's adorableness.

The two left the pot in the sunlight, hoping for good results, going back into the house for a short break to cook and eat lunch together. The plans were halted however when Mingyu discovered a few key ingredients for their lunch missing. Quickly putting his own shoes on and helping his son put his shoes on, Mingyu picked up the house keys and followed the toddler out of the house.

The walk to the supermarket constituted of the father and son talking about when they were next going to meet Wonwoo and his son and the rest of the kids, about what exactly would be cooked for the whole of coming next week, all questions that Mingyu answered with the new found patience he had since his son was born.

Almost half an hour was spent at the supermarket since the duo usually got distracted with all the things available without the supervision of Mingyu's wife to control the both of them, after which they headed home and started lunch.

Lunch in the Kim household consisted of warm freshly cooked food and conversations about everything and anything with Mingyu's favourite music of the week playing in the background. Mingyu held this bonding with his family very dear to his heart and tried to be home for at least one meal every day with his son and wife. He was a true family man in every aspect of the term.

After lunch and a short nap Dongmin had to take because of all the rice he had, the father and son were back in the greenhouse, tending and watering the plants, pulling out weeds and taking a few photos of the plants' progress. Even though both the father and son were clumsy, both were big on being organized, Mingyu liking his things clean and proper just like Dongmin liked to keep his toys in proper drawers according to colour and size. Both of them arranged their own tools properly in the baskets before leaving the room to greet Mingyu's wife, Dongmin rushing and sticking to his mother's legs as soon as she was in sight.

A sight Mingyu adored the most, he couldn't help but take a picture to capture the sweet reunion of a mother and her child, his child.

takes advantage of this and laughs at you as you pout while waddling angrily toward him as you try to reach his head

being pregnant wasn’t so fun, from the slight mood swing that happened occasionally, the urge to pee every 5 mins, cravings, morning sickness to the contractions were a bit of a downer but you couldn’t wait to see your mini mingyu

you wondered how your baby would look like, would he have my nose or his dads ? OH or maybe mingyu’s eyes and with them your little romeo would probably sweep all the babies in the nursery off their feet or maybe blanket

when it was time for you to deliver, mingyu was so worried like what if something happened to YOU!!OR!!!THE!!!!BABY?!

seventeen has to calm him down by talking some sense into him before he starts babbling more nonsense, they have to strap him in between minghao and dino to let him absorb some of the pure happiness and light that they emit

but who am i kidding, they’re all really nervous about you and they baby the entire hallway is filled with them

the boys and mingyu hear little cry and you can hear from your ward that they were screaming ‘‘ WE’RE UNCLESS “ while mingyu rushes in to check up on you

“ Hey bab- oh,” he couldn’t help but smile at you he was so grateful you were okay his heart ached after looking at how tired you look, well giving birth isn’t as easy as pooping “ rest well Y/N, thank you for marrying me and giving birth to our child even though I’m a little annoying love you Y/N” 

you can spot the boys squishing their face onto the glass window to catch a glimpse of their nephew, they were trying to whisper but ended getting shushed by the head nurse and ended up getting shoo-ed away

“ well we weren’t talking THAT loud that lady was mean “ dino pouted until he saw you getting wheeled out by mingyu “ NOONAAA HEREE ! “

[ ends up getting shushed for the 14785th time ]

soon after the boys left, mingyu took your hand in his and intertwined your hand together, “I wonder if our baby will look like a tiny squashed potato ? “ you were so close to knocking him out with a kick but he dodged it

“ Y/N I was kidding I know he’ll be absolutely be adorable since his parents are already deadly good looking oh and you too “, OK THiS WAs iT you were going to kick him in the nuts

you saw the nurse waving toward you holding a tiny buritto your baby

“ here, don’t be scared just hold him here it’s ok Mr Kim you don’t need to feel scared”, she said smiling while I held the baby as mingyu just stared at him with loving eyes

days had passed and you and mingyu were getting used to having a new addition to the family but for some reason he seemed a little scared to hold your son 

he was fine with playing with the baby, feeding him HeCK he was really good at changing the poopy diapers aka death bombs 

“ hey mingyu, you want to hold him while i go grab a shower ? “

“ U-um Y/N I need to tell you something “, he gently holds your hands in his and you try to make eye contact with him but he was trying to avoid you gaze “ baby, mingyu, you know you can tell me anything right ? “

you assure him that he will not drop the baby unless the baby was covered in butter which most likely would not happen [ you hope ]

when you come out of the shower you see your giant beanstalk craddling your lil bean in his arms humming him to sleep 

ohhhhh my gawwwwdddd this was soo long but I’m so sorry for not being active these few days believe it or not I’ve been having writers block aj.daskajd this took me 3 days to write :(( but I’m pretty happy with it, hope you like it
