The human baby girl lets out a soft cooing sound as she is handled by her new caretaker/parent.
Rodyle hummed lightly, rocking her slowly back and forth. She was healthy, and for that he was incredibly grateful.
Her stance as a human complicated things a little. It simply solidified that he would not be able to ask anyone for help in raising her, though he had established that he didn’t really want any of his coworkers involved in the raising of a child anyway, at least not one for whom he was responsible.
Kvar, although Rodyle’s favorite for company, would not make a suitable parent. He was a grey rulebook of discipline when it came to being responsible for others. Pronyma was too devious to be left alone around the child, lest she plant seeds of doubt and mischief that would only cause trouble and hurt. Forcystus, while caring enough, was either excellent at something or quite inept, and that was a 50/50 he wasn’t willing to take in this case. Magnius… no, allowing Magnius around a baby was unthinkable. He could singlehandedly fling Rodyle across the room when agitated, and that much of a loose canon would be nowhere near suitable for child care.
As things stood, he would be raising her alone. Being a single parent was not a situation Rodyle ever really wanted to be in, nor did he expect to, but he was still willing to try. He would have more resources than his mother had. He had a stable, well-paying job. He had a safer living space, though that would likely not be of much impact for just her. She was a human, so while it would be safer for her unattended once she was old enough, he could not leave her in the daycare that any of the Desian facilities offered. It would be difficult, though not impossible, to keep her with him while he was at work. He would just need a fairly spacious, sound-proof area to keep her when anyone was around.
He thought about his office. He thought about the layout; the adjoining rooms; the noise levels that she, any people from work, and the dragons would or could make; what it might cost and how long it might take to install a space for her without drawing attention. There were a lot of things to consider. He focused back on her. They were worth it.
