I think fans who think Malevolent can't be homophobic bc HG doesn't queerbait (sure) are forgetting that "no homo"-ing also exists and is actually way more common than straightforward gay ship-teasing. I really don't think HG would push the "Arthur is John's daddy" angle if he wasn't at least subconsciously trying to deter the shipping with uncomfy vibes (see also: the very no homo Christmas special). It didn't work, mind you, but that's more to do with the fujoshi's pure and unwavering pervert soul. Besides, this sort of defensive writing makes the show worse for the whole audience, not just shippers, and it would've been better if he just let Jarthur be equals and close friends without worrying about how that would be interpreted. The lion does not concern himself with the anal sex his characters are having on AO3.

I’ve been back and forth on if I think that Red is Liz’s biological father since the beginning. I love chosen family, so there was something appealing about this man that loved her mother so dearly choosing her as his own child. 

I’m in S4 of my rewatch these days and there’s something about the way Red pushes at Kirk. Maybe it was because he knew that Liz would be in danger if Kirk found out she wasn’t biologically his, but there’s a sense that Kirk didn’t deserve to have a relationship with her. 

But Red does?

It’s interesting and it definitely has mean leaning back a little closer to the biodad side of the theories. We’ll see if it changes fifteen times by the time I finish the rewatch.

I kept thinking how much I would have love that trial and all that information about Red and Katarina IF Red was the real Reddington. I couldn’t stop imagining Liz finding out all that about her parents and having her father right there.
