This has been sitting in my files for 5 months, whoops. I got busy with the Love & War Zine, so this had to take a backseat. Could've been more polished but I'm happy with how it is and I'm more than ready to move on to the next painting :)

When the 7th comic came out, all I could think about was how scout was when he just became a father, before the time skip but after the administrator died. who knows, but he was probably really tired

I imagine the Scoutlings to be just as hyperactive as their dad so they were all kept on a leash (it connected to a bracelet or a harness) until they learnt to cross the road.

Scout got weird looks for it from other parents which promptly stopped once he released the kids and let them run around being everyone's problem.

thinking about scout as a dad, yaknow? the fact that you can obviously tell he's cleaned some stuff up about himself for his kids. the fact that you can tell that SPY cleans himself up around the kids. you don't see him with a cig in scout's house in comic 7, not around the kids.

the fact that each of the moms came to term and HE ended up keeping the kids. as in, this guy didn't walk out halfway through a pregnancy. he stayed with the moms till they came all the way through with it, and then for some reason or another HE ended up being the one to take care of the kid. and you can tell he does his best to make sure his kids get to do things and be educated; they all know how to swim and everything! he has made sure of that! he is SO determined to never be the deadbeat dad--AND i'd bet my hat that he wouldn't have left any of his previous women to be single moms on account of his love for his own mom. and in honor of that, i have a few little headcanons for dadscout, such as

learns to read alongside his kids so he can help with their school

could cook before he had kids but it was either shit quality or shit for his health. his cooking is decent now and it's bc he wanted to make sure his kids had good meals

makes sure 100% that they're educated and have the opportunity to do whatever they want. Tanya says she wants to be a ballerina? okay, we're putting you in ballet class and i am NEVER missing a recital
