When your Dunmer is confused

Tortulja was given a baby Guar as a gift from grey mages. She raised him as her own - purchasing books for research and utilizing every connection she had to gather what necessities he would need.

As the Guar grew closer and closer to adulthood, however, Tortulja was overcome with a worry that she was not doing enough. Skyrim would never be the Guar’s native land.

It wasn’t until Dalamus introduced Tortulja to a friend of his - a young Dunmer named Olyn - that a potential solution was discovered. Olyn came from Solstheim, though he had been born and adopted from Skyrim, and his mother, Sursa, raised Guar. At first, he offered his personal knowledge and expertise to help Tortulja increase Hugh’s enrichment and quality of life before finally Tortulja asked the tough question - would Sursa be willing to take in Hugh as her own? 

After meeting with Sursa in person and the Dunmer giving Hugh a thorough examination, Tortulja was given relieving news: Hugh was in good health, but was slightly stunted in his growth due to a lack of nutrients and space that Tortulja could not have known to provide.

Sursa was, however, willing to take Hugh back to her ranch so he could continue to live out his life not only on his native land but with his own species. Although it was heartbreaking, Tortulja knew it was what was best, and agreed to let Hugh go.

Sursa and Tortulja are penpals of sorts, with Sursa sending updates on Hugh’s wellbeing and adventures and even inviting Tortulja to come stay to see how much the Guar has grown.

How to put this delicately? He wanted to tell her, but it was a difficult subject to be both subtle and clear about. “In a manner of speaking… Ah, but I did not mean to worry you, Nelle. I am sorry. Perhaps this is not the right time…”

Her worry only furthered, clear on her face. She seemed perplexed, and slightly wary. “I... don’t understand, Dalamus. Why would this be a bad time? If you’re sick, if there’s anything I can do, I want to know. I want to help.”

“I am just giving you a hard time. Come on, give us a hug.”

Tommy overly pouted, exaggerating the expression while he crossed his arms over his chest and pointed his face purposefully away from Dalamus. He gave a sniff of disinterest. 

“Naw, I don’t hug bullies.”

“I know the feelings that drive you.”

Asher clenched his jaw. It was infuriating, insulting. This mer had barely interacted with him, what the fuck did he know about his feelings? But Asher resisted the urge to attack: to pounce on the fellow vampire and attempt to rip him to pieces.

But he was a friend of Tortulja’s and Asher didn’t feel like deeply disappointing anyone that day.

“Then yeh know I’m not tryin’ teh hurt anyone.”

“When we get to that cave, you are handling the spiders. ..Wait. I am the one who cannot be killed by poison... Shit.”

Bo physically cringed at the thought of the spiders. He would much rather avoid them completely. At the Dunmer’s claim, though, the Nord brightened slightly.

“Right, I’m terribly allergic to spiders,” he added, offering Dalamus an innocent smile. “I should stay as far away as possible.”

I tried my hand at drawing as many of my TES OCs as I could!

In the beginning, it was just to try and draw Dal and Seeks with some different designs (Dal doesn’t usually wear anything in his hair, and Seeks doesn’t normally have a dewlap), but since many of them I haven’t drawn at ALL in several years, I had to draw their original form to assure myself I could xD

Dalamus Rex: 250, Dunmer/Bosmer, vampire, dual-wields daggers

Seeks-the-Light/Sakeel-Suuk-Azeez: 28, Argonian, Hand-to-Hand or One-Handed weapons (but prefers not to fight)
