An artist is suspected of selling a valuable painting to the Nazis, but there is more to the story than meets the eye.
For the most part this plays like a standard crime and court procedural set during wartime. Stock characters like Roland Møller as the brutish side-kick, and August Diehl playing an almost charicature villain strengthen that impression.
They lessen the impact of the moral dilemma. But the movie still has some good turns and scenes, especially during the trial.
Side note, given the fact that the story takes place in the Netherlands, I think I can be forgiven for thinking Piller's wife was played by Thekla Reuten. Turns out it was Marie Bach Hansen. There isn't a single Dutch actor among the main cast.
