Here is the first of my racial pages that I will be creating for my comic. Enjoy!
Races of Vathea: Valhaer
A race of tall, proud people who seek to conquer any obstacle that comes in their way. The Valhaer have an empire that spans many islands, and was far larger than it is now. They were the first lands to be assaulted by the masters. After that terrible war was finished with the help of all the peoples, they waged a war against all the races. As such, their already barren lands are ravaged by conflict.
The history of the Valhaer has been one of struggle and perseverance. Their lands are mostly barren and harsh, making early life for them very difficult. On top of this, many strange and powerful beasts roamed the lands, these creatures were thought of as vengeful gods, and the Valhaer were subject to their cruel whims for many years. Until one of their chieftains rose up and overthrew their captors. She gathered many hunters by her side, and together they slew their gods. It is said that the imperial city was built on the remains of the largest of these gods, it’s life energy is rumored to have imbued it’s inhabitants with even more power. For many generations, the Valhaer people wrestled with many obstacles to build their empire. They use magic and technology to subjugate anything that dared to stop them. At it’s peak, the Valhaer empire spanned much of the land of Vathea, and there are now many, many remnants of their once great civilization.
Valhaer religion is...will, none-existent. All Valhaer don’t bother with worshiping any kind of deity. Power is thought to come from the self, and the family. So a Valhaer simply spends their time working on that. Elders are respected, and the structure of military and civilian life is to be honored at all times.
The average Valaher is tall, and well built. They have skin shades of White to black, with red and purple skin of varying shades as well. They have black sclera with bright coloured, slit iris’, and long pointy ears. Their most striking feature are the Valhaer’s horns. Usually they are black, and often polished to a shine. Most individuals horns are large and curve up, but some twist and bend in various patterns. All of these features give Valhaer a demonic appearance. They adore ornamentation, and many Valhaer like to cap or ring their horns. Most Valhaer clothes are very complex, with multiple patterns, straps, spikes and other accessories.
Discord magik is the main type used by the Valhaer, as they abhor the very idea of working in harmony with something. Necromancy, sorcery, and wizardy are all schools of magic that are well-used by Valhaer magi. Healing magic is not very common, as most Valaher surgical techniques are very advanced. Alchemy is also big in their culture, and many potent magical mixtures can deal with any concerns. Valhaer also favour Magi-tech, many of their warriors wield such weapons, and many combine martial skills with technological boons. Valhaer also favor mechanized warfare, and many different type of arms and armor are employed against their enemies.
I did it! Finished up that sketch from the other day, so there’s some more Taiyang! She looks a bit miffed wonder why!? =)
Dance of Flames
I know what my comic is going to be called: Dance of Flames. And I am very confident with how it’s going and how to start it. I just have to get to work on it! I am hoping that I can balance all my time out correctly, and not just get engrossed with Warhams for weeks on end =P.
I have like, 2 pages of assorted musings and ideas for my comic that I need to digest into more sensible data, but like...I am too tired to do that =) still, it’s good to know I have it all in one place!
