The fall comes as a surprise, probably to both of them. He isn’t quite sure what he tripped over, but one thing lead to another, and now he’s on top of Richie, effectively pinning the teenager down. The clown just stares at him for a long moment, brow furrowing before he offers a small, quiet laugh, and a wide smile. The gesture’s meant to show his humor, and he doesn’t quite realize how frightening it may come off as.
Richie gives a strangled yelp when he hits the ground, pinned down by the weight of the other. At first he thinks that it was on purpose, that Pennywise has finally had it and this is it, this is how he’s going to die- he flails and bucks, expecting those needle-sharp teeth to tear into his skin at any second. When they don’t he stills, peering up at the other who seems to be simply observing him. A quiet laugh is followed by a smile and he hiccups in fright, unsure of what that means. He has stopped wriggling entirely, but does not know what to do with his hands so they flutter uselessly in the air like dying birds before they land on the shoulders above him.

Peter had just got done stuffing the last shirt he would be taking with him for his weekend away with Pennywise. He was nervous and excited all the same, nervous because this was his first 'sleep over' ever to happen this late in his age. And excited because it was with Penny. Since the first day he met the clown, he was happily attracted to his personality, his energy. His wanting to be good and make others smile, especially kids. As he grew and knew Penny little by little each day, he's come to terms with things. Understood some things. Penny even now had a human form. Which didn't make it any easier on Peter's view of the entity. But Pennywise finally thought it was okay for Peter to actually spend an extended amount of time with him, and Peter couldn't be more elated.
He slung the bulging backpack over his shoulder and grabbed his hoodie before bounding down the stairs and out the front door while bidding his Aunt and Uncle goodbye. He had gave them the excuse that he would be staying with Ned, rather than a stranger, to which Ned happily accepted to help with in exchange for a weeks worth of geeky lego building time that Peter found concerning that he accepted way to easily and quickly.
It took his about twenty minutes of brisk walking to make it to the well house in time for five thirty in the evening, just as the sun was going down and the cool wind was picking up. Peter knocked three times before bending over to retrieve the rusted key hidden under the dirty porch mat. He worked the creaky door open and stepped inside the semi cleaned home.
"Hey, Pennywise! I'm here! Sorry I'm late, my Aunt and Uncle gave me these crazy amount of chores to do before leaving, so I tried to finish as quick as I coul- - HOLY SHIT!"
Peter yelped as he tripped backwards, eyes wide and heart pounding against his ribcage at the sight he met in the living room, Pennywise was still human formed, but so much larger than an actual human should be. Peter was gasping, eyes flicking about everywhere to take in Penny's enlarged state. His voice cracked as he shouted.
"PENNY, WHAT THE HELL DID - - OH C'MON! HOW IS THIS FAIR?"

“Why?” Penny asks, brow furrowing as he looks at the man beside him.
They’re standing outside of a costume store, and he happened to stop when a particular one on display caught his eye. It was a clown suit, of course - he had an affinity for clowns. Or maybe old habits just died hard. The outfit in question was mostly yellow, very baggy, with some blue and a white frilly collar.
Were he human, and if it were not the middle of the night, he may have wondered what others would think of him - an old fashioned clown, standing in front of a costume shop window, oogling another clown suit. They’d probably think he had some kind of problem - or a fetish. But ever since he could remember, taking this form had always been one of the easiest ways to talk to anybody.
Even when he took the form of a simple human man, people were wary.
“What’s wrong with this one?” he asked, motioning to what he wore currently.
“There’s nothing wrong with it”, Walter said mildly, glancing at the worn, grey fabric of the man’s vintage clown outfit. “Personally, I prefer it.” Rubbing his neck, he looked up at the alternative, one which looked quite ridiculous in comparison. He had assumed that the stranger might be some kind of collector. “Just thought you might like to change it up.”
The man might be the oddest person he’d ever met, but strangeness never put him off. Normality often did, however, but only because it seemed like a small minority of people could ever live up to it, and a vast majority spent their lives trying and being unhappy for it. He had only just recently moved to Derry and he had taken to exploring it during his solitary nighttime walks. Seeing another person out and about at that hour seemed unusual enough to gravitate towards him.
“I’m Walter”, he said, shifting his umbrella to his other hand so that he could free up his right to extend it in greeting. “Nice to meet you.”
After the funeral, Daniels retreated to her grandmother’s old house. It smelled old, but then it had never smelled of freshly baked cookies, had it? As far back as she could remember, the house had a weight on it, a thickening in the air that she couldn’t put her finger on, something that made her grandparents quiet and introverted. When she visited them in Derry as a child, a couple of weeks every summer, there was no end to the rules and restrictions. They were so worried.
She made sure to turn on every lamp she could find. Ever since her sister disappeared all those years ago, fear of the dark had been a near constant companion. Passing through the rooms like a stranger, she examined the old photographs on the walls and on every surface. Dust stuck in her throat and she decided to take an evening walk.
Never go outside after dark, Dani. Promise me that.
With the street lamps keeping the road outside reasonably lit, she defied her childhood rule and left the house. Almost thirty and standing just short of five foot eleven, she wasn’t feeling particularly vulnerable physically. As soon as she stepped outside, the autumn wind ran its chilly fingers through her hair.
Refreshed, the empty street stretched out ahead of her. Alone, she re-discovered a thrilling, chilling game she used to play as a kid when she managed to sneak out. There were dark patches between the areas lit by the streetlamps, just a few feet of darkness. The rules were simple. Light was safe, darkness wasn’t. So she jumped between the circles of light, her feet never once touching the dark ground as she flitted from safety to safety. Everytime she landed she took a few stumbling steps, half turning to examine another dark patch conquered, huffing in defiance before pushing on. Her pulse raced as her imagination took hold in a flurry of frightened whispers about the nameless horrors that might be hiding in the dark… hungry ghosts to be outrun, outsmarted, and she did, she was a fucking champion at this, yes, just like always...
