Rin please send me your vampire novels and fanfictions
Okay, I had a darker thought. This was probably not Yukinobu Tatsu’s intention, but Rin’s new power is starting to feel like commentary on the idol/entertainment industry.
So Rin’s whole gimmick is that she’s a pop idol. When she first gets her powers, she is given this really tacky, sexualized costume that she hates. This was her main costume for several chapters until her idol power increased, which unlocked her ability to change/upgrade outfits. So now Rin’s new costume is this respectable black suit that is far less sexualized than the original one. Also, it’s black because, presumably, it represents Rin’s love of dark romance (aka vampires).
You see where I’m getting at? When Rin was first “starting out” as a pop idol superhero, her costume was super tacky and sexualized. The original costume wasn’t her idea, the idea came from her manager Mai. Then when she got more “idol power” (goodwill, fandom, negotiating power, wealth, notoriety, etc), she was able to change her costume into something she actually likes and is far more respectable than the original outfit. Because with more power, you get more freedom.
I'm just now realizing this chapter that the Yokai gang is going to bring Kouki back to Turbo Granny and Seiko and no one is gonna know who she is.
Abura: I found the humans you asked for
*Unceremoniously drops Rin and Kouki to the ground*
Turbo Granny: What? This isn't who I asked for!
Abura: This is not Momo and Ken? One has glasses and the other is a girl with dark hair
Turbo Granny: This one doesnt even look like Momo! And Ken is a boy!
Abura: Well how am *I* supposed to tell? All humans look the same to me!
*Trying to hold back her anger, Turbo Granny takes a deep breath*
TG: Okay well, this one's Rin and... Who the fuck is this?
TG: Seiko wake up, who the hell is this?
Seiko: I have never seen this girl before in my life.
Seiko: Eh, shes probably one of Momo's friends. I'll adopt her if I need to
*Seiko falls back asleep*
Crack-ship or rare-ship, I don't know what it's called, I just love them X3
May the 4th?! We have to wait till Star Wars day for the next chapter? Okay Tatsu, have your break. You probably need it after the fan backlash for this arc which we have established has been a time waster
Well, see ya on May the 4th and May the Schwartz be with you
I stared at art of them a little too long and got attached.
Sketched out some Dandadan headcanons I made. Realized I forgot Zuma but I also realized I couldn't think of a way to add at least a hint of horror to his powers.
Also sorry for it being on lined paper, I drew it at work in my notebook because I was bored.
Of the arcs in Dandadan, if the team behind the anime wanted to adapt one as a feature length movie (not like Evil Eye which was a glorified season opener, I’m talking more along the lines of Chainsaw Man Reze), I’d personally go for Rin Sawaki’s origin arc/the Ombusman arc. The one where Rin officially becomes a main character.
My reasons:
1) It’s short (you can’t do Candyland or the Avengers Assemble arc, those need full-length seasons. Rin’s arc is only a couple of chapters.)
2) It’s self-contained
3) Casuals/non-fans will probably not be confused by the story because of how self-contained it is. What I mean is that since the arc is mostly about Rin Sawaki and her backstory, you don’t need to know that much about Momo and Okarun. And since this arc is pretty much Rin’s origin story, you don’t have to rely on the anime/manga as much for context.
4) It’s ACTION-PACKED. There’s a reason why I call this arc “Babymetal: Fury Road”. Because of how much action is in this arc, a movie-level budget for the animation team would make sense.
5) In addition to the action, imagine how epic the music will be in theaters? I imagine it’d be like going to an actual Babymetal concert, but with ghosts and explosions.
6) It’s a complete story. No cliffhangers and no tease to the next main villain (well, sorta, there’s a little tease to Okarun’s next ball, but that’s about it).
I guess the one drawback is that Rin Sawaki would be the protagonist while Momo and Okarun would only be the deuteragonists/supporting protagonists. I imagine that most viewers would want a movie where the series’ leads are the main heroes. But still, I think that’d be a minor problem, especially since Dandadan becomes more of an ensemble story after Vamola’s introduction.
