More than 850 tonnes of solid waste ends up at Dandora Dumpsite daily, generated by around 3.5 million inhabitants of Nairobi. Birds and pigs thrive in the dumpsite, scavenging the towering piles of rubbish for food. #salarkheradpejouh #photography #blackandwhite #photodocumentary #socialdocumentary #photojournalism #africa #nairobi #dandora https://www.instagram.com/p/Btq3mIcI4zs/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=zjzbpalnigdx

Two children we met playing at @dandorahhc last week. Apart from being a moulding ground for Artistes, DHC also provides a space where children can play. #OnetouchLive #OnetouchLive_Dandora #Dandora
Meet Jackline Karimi, the secretary of Wasafi Organisation, based at Ukoo Flani. Growing up in Dandora, she remembers when the 40-year old estate was clean, tidy and orderly - unlike today. She's teamed up with others from Wasafi and twice a week, they meet to sweep the streets and remove trash from the ditches. With every stroke of their brooms, they're working to restore Dandora to it's former glory. #OnetouchLive #OnetouchLive_Dandora #Dandora #Nairobi #WasafiOrganisation #UkooFlani
A man rummages through garbage at the Dandora Dumpsite. Around 2,000 tons of trash arrive here daily. That's 2 million kilos of stuff that we've thrown out and no longer need, that becomes a source of livelihood for others like this guy. #OnetouchLive #OnetouchLive_Dandora #Dandora #Nairobi
