She was shocked, the door knob gripped tightly in her hand. Tears sprang to her eyes at the sight before her. as they began to fall, She grimaced. her jaw was clenched but still she uttered no word. it was a few moments before he noticed her. 

" Fuck you." She said in the calmest voice she could muster. with that, she turned on her heel and slammed the door as she left. she bolted down the stairs and out onto the street in front of the apartment building. without another word, she turned left, running away into the night.

Ash sat down the bottle after having filled her glass for the sixth time. Work had been shit, and she wanted nothing more than to forget everything that had happened. the door opened then, and Nick walked in. he tossed down his jacket and keys before he noticed her. 

she turned on the bar stool, drink still in hand. ” He-ey stranger.” she said, a dumb grin on her face. ” a tall, dark stranger to sweep me off my feet.” She took another drink from the glass, before topping it off. ” I could really use one about now.”
