In The Limelight
(A writing prompt idea I just had to execute tagging @thesheeplepeople, Also I finally picked a bandname for Axel’s band but it’ll be revealed in the story I’ll put it in bold)
Axel sat in the limo next to his band-mates, his manager Carla and her girlfriend across from them, and his date Nikolai Dawson. The hybrid fidgeted in his seat and pulled at his collar, he felt his blood running cold it was so rare for him to be this nervous.
“Axel chill man you’re gonna be fine, tonight is the big moment no matter what. You got this.”
Carla told him noticing his jittery behavior.
The band had been contacted and informed their music had been nominated for a music award, one of the biggest music awards and that they’d all be invited to the award show. They’d even been asked to perform at the event and Axel was feeling the pressure, he’d asked Niko to join him to calm his nerves but his heart was still racing.
Finally they arrived at the red carpet and climbed out the limo, Axel took a deep breath and took Niko’s hand as he was helped out the car. Paparazzi and fans were crowded behind separators, Axel suddenly didn’t feel so tense seeing all the people cheering for the band.
“They love you ya know.”
He heard Niko tell him as they walked down the carpet to the building. Axel nodded waving, he and the band decided to stop a few times they loved their fans and giving out a few autographs and taking some pictures never bothered them. Axel saw Ezra’s fanclub cheering for him and chuckled at his best friend’s face, seeing so many excited faces made him feel much more confident about tonight.
Inside the building Axel saw his younger brother and foster father who had both been invited as guests under his name, he was wrapped in an embrace as soon as they spotted him.
“Congratulations on the nomination.”
Warren said with a smile, he was so proud of Axel his face said it all in pure expression. Luka was equally excited talking about how excited he was to see his brother perform on national television live.
“Oh yes I do look forward to seeing your performance Axel but as for the award, well that award is mine to claim i’m afraid.”
Through the crowd Niji approached with his usual smug smirk on his face, Ezra rolled his eyes as he saw the other singer in his alternate persona.
“And what makes you think you’ll be gettin the award Niji? We have just as good a chance as you.”
Daniel said quick to the defend the band. Niji responded with a simple chuckle sneering at the drummer.
“Right of course you do.”
He said in an obvious sarcastic tone, looking around quickly he leaned in.
“Congratulations actually, let’s schedule a lunch sometime and catch up. I’ll be cheering for you guys.”
The man said quickly he didn’t want to break their pseudo rivalry around press but he did actually want to show his support for the band. Quickly leaving afterwards the show began everyone taking their seats, so much time was passing but it felt like such a flash to the hybrid. He was so anxious for the best song awards that when it finally came time for the announcement he felt like he was about to have a heart attack.
Yijun who was the announcer for this award stood on stage.
“The nominees for best song are, Bi Living by Niji, Waking Love by Red Wing...”
Everyone was on the edge of their seat when Yijun was given the envelope.
“And the winners of best song this year is... Waking Love by Red Wing!”
The crowd broke out into applause as Axel, Ezra, and Daniel all got up heading to the stage being given the award. Axel took a deep breath before talking with his friends behind him.
“We are really thankful for this award, it feels like just yesterday we were just a couple of dumb teenagers with far off dreams. We practiced at my father Warren’s house and I don’t even know how we didn’t drive him crazy with the sound. After all these years we still have people here supporting us who were there from the beginning, the hardships and the rise. We couldn’t have made it without our family and our amazing fans so we thank you everyone, you’ve given us so much.”

A bit of a ditz and always super kind despite how he looks Daniel is Axel’s Drummer and a close friend since high school. He sometimes ends up Ezra’s punching bag and is Carla’s adopted younger brother. He has no idea what happened to his birth family but he doesn’t really care to know, he’s very happy with his adopted family and new life.
