Office Romance Review
I’d like to start this out by saying no fucking way Brett Goldstein answered to being called Daddy before realizing she was talking to her actual dad.
Yeah, sure, Brett, not freaky at all you say.
Anyways, it was actually pretty amazing. It had a great plot line between two people between the same age, with no cheating trope, and a slight miscommunication trope but it gets fixed by the end of it.
I honestly liked it more than All of You.
Brett and J-Lo had amazing chemistry. Like, it was actually so good. And it wasn’t just them. Everybody in the cast just had great chemistry with each other.
And it was brilliantly funny. Some of the jokes are reused ones of Brett’s (if you’ve watched The Second Best Night of your Life and Shrinking, you’ll understand) but they still hit. Exceptionally well. Tony Hale, Betty Gilpin, and Jodie Whittaker absolutely carried it on their shoulders, holy moly.
And the romance is great without being totally out of the way sexual. The relationship feels real, and let me just say, even though it’s marked as explicit content and nudity, you never actually get like an in depth sex scene. The nudity comes from a birth scene where yep, baby coming out of a woman is on display, and Brett is nearly naked with a book covering his junk (and yeah, they make a comeback to that joke later on). And the relationship seems real through the little things (both of them tumbling off the bed, dancing when something tastes good, etc).
Overall, I really liked it, I hope he does more, and I would definitely watch it again.
