I love how smart and witty Betty is with her quick answers to Daniel's attacks, going so far that Daniel is defeated and has to resort to insults about her physical appearance

I never noticed that Daniel had big ass FANGS
No wonder Mario and Armando called him El Vampiro lmao
anyways I'm revealing myself lmao but there is the thread Luis Mesa did because people noticed his ausence in the new series
Omggg thank you!!!
I see what he means! The story at the beginning definitely seemed tk be saying that Daniel would eventually have a crush on her, but he's right in what he's saying that it later on his character wasn't in that direction. I always felt that his attempt to seduce/humiliate Betty during their "date" was a bit lackluster but also that it hid some desire that was long there, it jusr wasn't developed enough before her transformation to seem anything real. At this point and from what we know of Daniel from the full novela, it's practically impossible to see how his personality and objectivez were originally intended to be, ans Mesa possible feels that same frustration lmao. I mean, was he going to be a genuine man with real feelings pursuing Betty with good intentions? I find that hard to believe because Gaitan didn't write characters tk be that simple. I'm guessing Daniel was alwYs meant to be kind of awful, just like Armando, but maybe a little worse than Armando just to make them more of equal rivals.
Idk, tbh, it really catches my interest to see how Daniel could have been! It would require to re write the story since very early on, tho... this just reinforces my idea thay ysblf initially was going into a very different direction lol
Thank you very much for all your asks nd screenshots!! I appreciate it a lot!!🥰🥰🥰
EVEN MORE ADDITIONAL RANDOM CANON DETAILS OMG
Long time since I last made one!
Daniel is seen biting the nail of his pinky finger and then spitting the nail on the floor when he's bored, so I'm guessing he's not as nitpicking about cleanliness as Armando is
We also see him biting a pen when he's nervous ((funnily enough, Armando also has the habit of biting things when he's nervous))
Daniel always ignores people he deems inferior
Roberto has apartments (unknown how many) on London, a house in Miami, and a house in Bogotá
Daniel has no investments or properties other than the apartment where he lives, and his only sources of income are Ecomoda's monthly check and his gov job's monthly check (which barely pays, aparently)
He has a private driver
Basically no one in Ecomoda's board has any additional sources of income lmao
Don Hermes is often seen fixing things at home, be it electrical, mechanical, or plumbing issues, he seems to know how to do all sorts of repairments or at least knows the basics
Ecomoda started as a small tailor shop located on downtown Bogotá
Patricia loves sushi and Russian food
Aura María doesn't really like caviar, but she likes the fancy feeling that comes with it!
Aura Maria has probably been working for longer at Ecomoda than Gutierrez, because she said that Gutierrez has been claiming to to be about to divorce since he stwrted working there
When we see characters that believe themselves to be superior to other character and they have to greet each other with a handshake, the one who feels superior will extend and shake the other's hand from above. I didn't know this but my hubby told me this js incredibly rude and condescending! Which matches perfectly, because the 2 occasions I noticed this was 1) when Patricia greeted anyone, which perfectly matches her character, and 2) when Roberto meets don Hermes, which perfectly fits the situation because it's when tensions are super high and everyone thinks Betty is trying to steal the company
Also, a follow uo to the last point: when they shook hands when saying goodbye after the gentleman talk they had, Roberto no longers extends his hand from above, but rather straight, like it should be. A clear demostration of trust and good intentions from both sides! This apparently meant there is no longer this distrust and feeling of being "above" son Hermes
Don Hermes since the beginning extended his hand straight, btw!
Patricia scratched Marcela's car while Marcela was on Miami, and left it stranded at her apartament because it ran out of gas and had no money to put more
Marcela is older than Patricia but it's unknown by how much
Mario was able to recognize that Michel was a foreigner JUST by looking at his shoes from a far. ((If that isn't being extremely observant and detail oriented, idk what is. That man is a MENACE))
Don Hermes and doña Julia have been together for 30 years. ((God bless that woman's patience because if I were married to Don Hermes I would be a widow by day 2 lmao))
When Sofia and Efrain married they were dirt poor
They love lamb sandwiches and that's basically all they eat during their honeymoon because they couldn't afford anything else
Don Hermes never knew what happened with Miguel, but he always had a feeling that that basterd did something awful to Betty
In some episodes you see Marcela with green contacts and others you see her with her natural eye color, brown
Maria Beatriz likes going out to party with Hugo and his boyfriend, Rolando
By the end of the novela, they break up, tho
When Hugo comes back from his vacation after Betty's first collection, he now has 2 boyfriends
Patricia and Hugo both had a crush kn the same guy
Hugo loves his antique phone. We see him talking about it at different points in the novela, showing it to random people. He's so in love with that phone lmao
Doña Julia and Margarita met during the wedding ceremony of their children
Gutierrez didn't take his wife to the wedding lmao
Don Hermes is still paying for Betty's grad student debt (posgrado)
Betty worked at the Banco Montreal in the area internacional at the same time that she was studying her posgrado
Betty and Nicolas went to the same college
We never see Nicolás in any of Betty's college memories, but tbh idk how Colombian colleges work lmao
Mario smells and kiss Patricia's hair/skin during Armando's public statements about marrying Marcela, during the first collection launch we ever see. At this point, they aren't a thing yet.
Freddy also smells Mariana's hair while they're at Inesita's house, for some weird ass reason that I've never understood
There's another security guard, Javier, I think, who is known for sleeping at the job lol we never meet him but he works night shifts
Mario and Armando keep extra clothes in the presidency's private bathroom.
Don Roberto has a pipe collection and plays golf
The Mendozas have dogs. We see them on the background once when Roberto and Margarita are at their house
Maria Beatriz was about to have surgically removed 2 ribs lol
Carmensita, Roberto's secretary, was with him for 30 years
Mario was going to be Armando's best man at his wedding with Marcela
Margarita was RELIEVED about Armando only using Betty and not actually in love with her🙄🙄
Margarita has a Shi Tzu dog
The Mendozas have several maids, all dressed in very stereotypical maid fashion (ngl I thought that wasn't a real thing lmao)
Just saw Luis Mesa's tweet saying that in fact, Daniel fell/would feel in love with Betty BEFORE her transformation and I'm spiraling because it makes sense the Betty/Daniel parallels in the first chapters, he going mad with Patricia because she blocked Betty's computer, he literally says that he's after Armando's head, not Betty's; also asking her why she looks so scared when she sees him with a reflective look. Also when he heard about Betty's boyfriend, he goes full mad to humiliate session on her look BUT he actually saw her look literally minutes ago and didn't said nothing.
I think it would be kinda interesting but in telenovelas, the guión is decided by the audience so it was only Betty/Armando without a triangle (Nicolas doesn't count ajsksks) until Michel.
What do you think YSBLF would go if they went with Daniel/Betty/Armando?
HIIII
Omgggg someone pls send me a screenshot or something!! I need tl see this!!! I'm usually not a big fan of what the actors say, but this one I kinda believe it lmao
I thought for a very long while when watching for the firdt time that Daniel was eventually going to go after Betty! I thiught he would fall for her or at least want "something" with her... not actual love, perhaps, but you know, SOMETHING... but no!
I hadn't noticed some of the details you're mentioning! I did see the parallels at the beginning, and how Betty pretty much falls perfectly in lone with what Daniel looks for in a woman. I also noticed that he seemed to genuinely find humour in his talks to Betty but didn't like her winning the arguments. I also noticed he was surprised with how scared she was of him! But that thing about his reaction to hearing Betty has a bf?? Uf, I hadn't noticed or made the connection!!! I will definitely pay more attention to Daniel this rewatch!
Uff what a hard question!! It'd be very difficult to know how it'd go, and things can change so much depending on when Daniel were to be interested in Betty. I think that if the initial idea was to make Daniel actually eventually fall in love, it was a short lived idea, because Daniel never even shows a bjt of kindness like Armando does. I mean, Daniel is a pretty twisted man and a bit sadistic. I imagine that if they had actually wanted to make Daniel a love rival, Daniel's personality and wickedness would have been softened.
I've been writing a fanfic about this (not a D/B, but he still pursues her), and in my vision, I think he'd need to see her physical potential for beauty. Pretty much like Armando, Daniel also feels attraction for Betty but is repelled by her looks. Armando was forced to bream this barriers during the Sinister Plan, but I think Daniel would only break them if he saw Betty improving her appearence. He seemed to me a more superficial man compared to Armando, and I don't think Daniel would ever even consider going public.
I definitely think that Armando would be losing his head over the idea of TWO men going after Betty tho (Nicolás and Daniel) lmaooo also Mario would have a hell of a time laughing about it. Marcela would be FURIOUS about it. Patricia would feel humiliated thinking that Daniel could have had her and instead chose BETTY. And Betty herself would be HORRIFIED, because she hates his guts lmaooo straight up the only way she would ever tolarate him was with blackmails (cough cough like about the Panamá illegal businesses or something cough cough)
It's still a very interesting take! I definitely see where it comes from but I also think this idea was too quickly forgotten. I wouldn't even know where the AU could start for Daniel to be a proper love rival!
Thank you for the lovely question!! Sorry if I couldn't elaborate much🥲
The way the novela straight up just forgot how Patricia and Daniel had guns pointing at each other's head and just reduced it to Daniel having all the power is just ugh!
Daniel threatened Patricia with taking away her job and connections by revealing what she did to Betty's computer, but Patricia also threatened Daniel with revealing his sexual abuses and ruining his reputation. It was peak tension, it was not convenient for either of them to just let the other out of their sight, but they couldn't act either.
That 9 pages long letter that Patricia wrote admitting both her culpability in the computer's damage but also denouncing Daniel's abuses was a bomb and to this day I'm still pissed it was just discarded lmao
I'm actually shocked Mario felt some type of burden of conscience not only for his "child" but also for Patricia, even if he wasn't going to marry her he felt responsible for ver and wanted to take care of her and their baby. I'm even more shocked he said it to her directly. And when he asked 'So i'm never going to see my son?' he actually looked hurt i kinda felt bad for him lol
Hiii!
Totally agree, I was surprised as well. I think it's the novela's only moment of showing us Mario is not actually fully morally corrupt and does have his redeeming qualities. It's personally one of my favorite aspects of the novela, that no character is fully "bad" or "evil", not even Mario Calderón.
I really liked that whole thing, tbh. You can see him genuinely congused and distressed about it. He's torn between his desire to keep living his bachelor life surrounded by hedonistic pleasure and the actual weight of responsibility of leaving a child to grow up fatherless and poor, born with a mother who Mario knows is absolutely irresponsible and will not take good care of the child. It's definitely Mario's only redeeming point that shows ys he actually has a conscience!
It's also a great contrast to Daniel. He never even considered recognizing the child, and even if Patricia were to ever show up later with full proof of ihis fatherhood and in front of everyone, he would still deny it. Mario, on the other hand, always and from the very beginning imagined himself being an active father: waking up at night to tend to his child when he cried, living with his child, feeding him, and even taking him to work to care for him. He never evaded responsibility, even if he didn't fully understand why. He even saw himself tied to Patricia like husband and wife, not only co-parenting. He even saw himself having more children eventually. It's very interesting how Mario, a man who only sees women as objrcts to be used and discarded, sees having children with a woman like a full life time commitment that makes you fully responsible not only for the children but for the woman herself.
It was definitely a surprise!
Thanks for the ask!
