Things hadn’t exactly gone the way she’d imagined at the Halloween bash, leaving early for a reason Max would only explain later—and once he did, Allison knew she had to talk to Dani about the whole thing. Max had told her that the cat he’d spoken to had also talked to Dani, so she knew she needed to gather the information from her side of it as well. “The funny thing is, I’m pretty sure I met that cat too, but it didn’t say a word to me.”
