what are your dreams like Jayden?

“That has a very broad answer.” Jayden said without looking up.
Her dreams were often the things that prevented her from sleeping. There was only so much atrocity one could witness before they lost all hope in Humanity.
She had seen her fair share of it as a Lawyer. Each case she tried in court, to get justice for those that could not do so themselves. For every victory under her name in the Legal World, there was a near equal number of those that got away with their crimes.
Of course, the tragic loss of life of those that had been “Found Not Guilty” days or months later was another thing that had haunted her. Less so for the deaths, but that no one knew how they had come to such an end. Save for the one that carried out the task themselves.
If that was not enough, she relieves the worst moments in her life. The loss of Andy. The near fatal wreck she got into on her way to the hospital when she felt the echoes of the soul shattering wail pierce the veil of distance and Reality itself.
Or every argument that she and Harvey ever got into. The hollow echo of words that no immediate family member should shout at one another, let alone say.
If that wasn’t bad enough, she would spiral down every life she had taken for the House. Infernalism was the second highest offence a Mage like herself could commit. When her Quaesitor gave her a contract: it was her solemn sworn duty to hunt the offender and put an end to their life.
She was the Executioner.
She embraced the mantle to spare others the horrors that she has witnessed in her life. Her first infernalist came to her at only 18 years old. Much too young to be taking a life for the good of Sleepers and Mages alike.
Rare were her dreams kind. Rare were they normal things like forgetting pants on their way to school or something intimate in nature between lovers. Rare were the whimsical dreams that made no sense and were a way for the one having such a dream to unwind from the chaos of life.
“They are a mix of memories and emotions. Nothing that other people don't go through.” Was the verbal answer she gave.
