Hi, what some of your favourite Reylo AUs? Just AUs please.

Hi anon, I’m so glad you asked! I’ve been reading a bunch of reylo fics over quarantine so I’ve basically been waiting for one of these asks, haha. I’ve listed fics that I think are AU must-reads, the universes ranging from Harry Potter to Modern to Dystopian. I hope you like them!

the heartbreak prince by diasterisms (E) (known as @kylorenvevo here on tumblr) - A Harry Potter AU with Ben as the DADA professor and Rey is a seventh year student. Lots of pining, secret jealousy, and sexy times, and I’m obsessed with this fic. It’s perfect in every way.

I’d Like My Obituary to Hint at a Sequel by VioletWilson (T) - Where Ben actually ~didn’t~ die in a plane crash, and Rey who secretly broke into his house poses as his maid/groundskeeper when he returns. Oh, and also grilled cheese.

Little Thieves by ohwise1ne (E) - A dystopian AU with A/B/O dynamics, Ben is a Alpha Knight for the First Order and Rey is an Omega rebel soldier. Amazing smut, and I love the way the plot builds and how the author describes their tender, vulnerable dynamic.

jelly-filled by Like_A_Dove (T) - Teenagers Rey and Ben both work in a donut shop. A super fluffy one-shot.

Within Monsters by AnonymousMink (M) - This is technically still in the Star Wars Universe, but it’s a canon divergence fic so it could technically classify as an AU? But Rey works on the Finalizer, and her revelation of being Force-sensitive leads her to become Kylo’s apprentice. A classic and must-read.

Counting Cards by AstridMyrna (G) - A soft neighbors to friends to lovers fic, during the most wonderful time of the year. This fic is sweeter than hot chocolate.

provocateur by @dankobah​ (E) - A Sugar Daddy AU where Ben is LOADED and Rey is a poor college student. If you like designer fashion and don’t balk at Rey’s excessive spending, this fic is for you. This whole fic is devoted reylo and it makes my heart go *explosion noises*

“Flying biped with hooves, with a goat or a horse head.”

Ben is packing his briefcase, “Sounds like a good time.”  

She continues, “It has tiny arms as well based on this sketch.”  She squints at the rudimentary sketch as she picks up her blazer and bag again, walking out of the X-files office with him.  They walk to the elevator and he presses the button to go up.

“Emits a high pitched screech noise.”  They both step into the elevator and Ben presses the button for her so they can go see Dameron to get official case probe approval.  Just because something comes across their desk, doesn’t mean it’s approved.  

“Sounds absolutely horrifying.  I wish it was real.”  Rey rolls her eyes for the umpteenth time.

Reylo Author Appreciation: Dankobah

My first introduction to @dankobah (Ao3: dankobah; Twitter: @ dankobah) was his fic provocateur . If you haven’t read it, it’s a modern AU (currently WIP!) featuring college student Rey and sugar daddy CEO Ben, and it is incredible. You may have caught his musician/model modern AU WIP i only lie when i love you, his modern political arranged marriage AU WIP i’m winning so they had to dump the gatorade (i don't give a f*ck about my family name), or his wicked intense modern camgirl/camboy AU WIP f*cked my way to the top.

I must confess here, because I know this sounds like a lot of WIPs: I used to be scared of WIPs. I was afraid of getting invested in a story that might not be finished! I did not read them at all in my previous fandoms (what’s up, Sterek and Darcyland?). I didn’t even read them in Reylo fandom- until a moodboard for provocateur crossed my dashboard, and I was hooked. Yes, I stopped filtering Ao3 for completed works and learned to love the WIPs. Do you know why?

Because Dankobah is an amazing writer, full stop, and I would rather read a never-finished story by him than go without reading her ever (luckily for us, Dankobah speaks with great frequency about working on his fics!). They’re full of details- not just the fabulous clothes in provocateur, or the music in i only lie when i love you; but little brow furrows when a character is concerned about something or a fluttering hand grasping another’s to gain confidence in a new situation. I’ve re-read his fics over and over, and I find something new every time.

He’s a master at keeping you invested in these characters, taking canon facts and turning them into modern flaws and self-doubts. I can recognize our canon Rey in his modern Rey. I can see both our Kylo Ren and Ben Solo in his modern Kylo. The settings and set ups might be different, but these are the same characters as on the big screen, no doubt about it.

If you haven’t explored the awesome worlds that Dankobah has created yet, I recommend you get on that right now. He’s got incredible range, and I get unreasonably excited every time I get a notification that one of his stories has updated.

I’m talking “woo!” in public and seat-wiggling excitement, people. I become a Woo Girl, and I’m okay with that.

For ep IX headcanons (this is a long shot) but Ben somehow being involved with Rey building her lightsaber

yes there would be something so powerful and emotional about that especially if he’s involved with repairing the kyber crystal with rey.
