Scorpius loved Albus’ company, of course he did, it was why he spent a gross majority of his time with him, especially during the summer time. It wasn’t his father’s favorite thing to drop him off at the Potter’s house, but he seemed happy as long as Scorpius was happy, and he was happy at his friend’s house... for a multitude of reasons. A lot of it was because he got to hang out with his Slytherin friend, they seemed to have such little time together at school because of their differing houses... but there was a big part of him that also liked coming over because it meant he got to see James Potter, too.
He didn’t know when he started getting so nervous around the older boy. Maybe he’d been that way since he first met him? But if that was the case then it had certainly intensified as of late; every time he saw the eldest Potter his palms got sweaty and his heart started beating faster than he thought healthy. How could he help it though? James’ hair looked so soft, and he had an air about him that drew Scorpius in like a moth to a flame. He found himself longing to go sit beside him and talk, maybe bump their legs together -- but Albus always tugged him away up to his bedroom away from his ‘dumb older brother’. When they were at school they spent a good amount of time together, because of Quidditch and their shared house, and part of him started wishing school would come sooner, so he could actually spend time with him again. It was sort of torture, being so close and not being able to really acknowledge him lest Albus shoot him a dirty look.
But, Albus had tucked in early for the night, and when Scorpius left the bathroom after brushing his teeth he noticed light peeking from underneath James’ door. He looked down the hall, to where he was sharing a room with Albus... surely he wouldn’t notice if Scorpius just visited with his brother for a bit? He was asleep anyways. So he carefully made his way to the door, dressed in dark sweats and a Gryffindor Quidditch t-shirt, and raised a hand to knock a few times. He felt nervous again, uncertain if James even would want to hang out with him.
