Coffee Break.

“Just a break from everything.” She breathed adjusting her coat, “The paper work, watching people making sure they don’t kill each other in the barracks, and this damn cold.” She would have offered a drink, but it was only the afternoon and she was trying to quit.
“Come on, I know a quiet place.” She gestured for him to follow. The small cafe she was referring too wasn’t too far from the capitol, so the trip wouldn’t be too long. She hadn’t much chance to venture far away from her work place. Too much needed attention. She knew they were purposely piling work on her, to see how much she could handle. Riven wondered if they did the same to Darius, or if he was just better at it than anyone else. Most likely the latter, he is The Hand, after all. It couldn’t hurt to ask.
He honestly couldn’t fault Riven for wanting a short break from her work, considering the sheer amount of it that he had. Darius himself had a similar load but, well, he’d gotten so used to the amount that it no longer bothered him. They mostly gave it to him because it wasn’t meant for anyone lower than him to do and they knew he’d get it done in a relatively timely fashion. Granted, there wasn’t much else he’d really do with his free time.
So Darius followed Riven’s lead to go to this quiet place she mentioned in order to get coffee. He could feasibly guess at where she meant but he’d let her lead the way regardless. “Can’t blame you for the cold.” He wasn’t a fan of the Winter months himself. “Didn’t miss the paperwork, did you?”
