AU where in certain farm towns dark creatures/entities live. Mostly in the crop fields(they like corn and wheat the most) but they can be seen along side roads and in barns, but only at night. The problem in this AU isnt the creatures themselves but rather that Dennis doesnt know that others are unaware of these creatures. He grew up with them, and since all his family and friends grew up on farms, he always saw them, he thought they were a normal thing to see while you’re driving home after a long day at church. When he went to college he never had them at the forefront of his mind, he was so used to them that even when right in front of his he wouldn’t bat an eye, so he didn’t realize they weren’t there in the city. That was until he came to The Pitt, after a couple months of working there somehow the entities came up(maybe someone was talking about seeing dark figures, or it got brought up during a conversation with one of the girls) at first everyone thought he was joking, but it soon became clear that he was very serious, they kinda freak out a little, some not so much believing what he saying but more so being scared that it could be true, some thought that he needed a psych eval(maybe the kid had been working a little to hard?), others(Trinity) flat out didn’t believe him, none the less Dennis went on not knowing the chaos he had started. Up until shift end and multiple people all cornered him demanding answers. Dennis was confused, how did they not know?, either way Dennis knew that pictures speak louder than words so he took out his phone and found one of the only images he had with one of these entities(who he called Nick)

main subjects of: magical creatures

- boggarts

boggarts are shape shifting energies that take form of the observers worst fear when faced. it is recommended to face a boggart in the presence of multiple people, in case of mishap. if multiple people face the boggart at once it will be confused, and unsure of which form to take. boggarts simultaneously are fear and feed off of fear. to defeat a boggart, you must use the charm riddikulus. its biggest weakness is laughter. with this incantation, you must think of something that amuses you when encountering one. the boggart will have no choice but to turn into the thing you find humorous. this spell requires concentration and a clear mind.

boggarts are not all the same. they hide in many places such as wardrobes, beneath beds, under the sink cupboards, and sometimes corners. all boggarts like to stick to dark confined spaces. no one has ever seen what form a boggart takes when it is alone, so it is impossible to classify it as a being.

- werewolves

also known as lycanthropes, werewolves are cursed creatures that resemble humans. upon the rise of a full moon, they transform into an almost indistinguishable appearance from a wolf. they have a short muzzle, and human-like eyes with a muscular body and large legs. these creature are furthermore cursed and forced to live an uncontrollable life. when encountered, it is hard to differentiate them from a normal wolf; apart from behavior. they kill anyone and anything in their path, with no memory of their true identity.

when a human is bitten by a werewolf, it is not likely they will survive without sealing the wound. to seal the bite, they require a mixture of powdered silver and dittany. this closes the wound and prevents the human from bleeding to death, allowing them to live as a werewolf. however, most bitten do not long for this fate; and choose to die before lycanthropy or transformation.

after being bitten, symptoms are inevitable. the human victim will experience abnormal tendencies to crave raw meat over any other form of sustenance. they will also feel a spike in agitation and anger, prone to aggression over simple problems. it is still unknown whether the curse can be passed on genetically or to children, if conceived. the only thing that can weaken a werewolf for a short amount of time is wolfsbane. wolfsbane is a potion used to help werewolves or make them weaker before transformation.

- vampires

vampires are dark magical humanoids that feed and survive off of human blood. they are pale skinned, thin, and usually dark haired. when not hunting, they resemble a human with black pupils. in their mouths, fangs protrude from their gums; which are used to pierce victims in the throat. in dire situations, the creature may be forced to feed off of wild animals. they hold a strong aversion to garlic, which is known to keep them away. vampires also cannot go into the sunlight.

when bitten by a vampire, they are doomed to the curse. the victim will either die of blood loss or begin the transformation to their vampiric state. upon being bitten the victim will become increasingly hungry, yet not satiated no matter how much they eat. it is the victims choice to feed, or starve.

the curse is passed down genetically, making any children of vampires part-vampire.

- sirens

sirens are exceptionally beautiful creatures, the first recorded species of merpeople. they have gills and tails like fish, but with a body resembling one of a human. they are scaled with fins on their arms, backs, and tails. their hands are scaly with their fingers webbed, which help them swim.

sirens are known to communicate through song, luring muggles out to sea with their beautiful melody. when their victim is close enough, they will drag them out in the waves and to the sea floor where the victim will drown. this fate is very familiar to muggle legend, where these creatures were the cause of many sailors deaths. sirens are very similar to selkies.

there are said to be sirens in the great lake.
