Olney State Forest, NSW. Growth area vs logging area (2020).
I took this photo and many more early January when I was visited by a flock of these beautiful glossy black cockatoos. I’ve intermittently seen them fly high overhead, heard them calling to each other, they have never come so close. When they decided to stop and feed on one of the casuarinas on our property, my heart nearly burst out of my chest. I watched them for hours. Seeing how they huddled together on a nearby angophora and then fly back to eat from this one particular she oak. I had been shooting some work on the deck outside my studio and thought we’ll here’s your chance to get some good shots with the SLR 📷. I went and got the big lens and was rewarded with them staying whilst I clicked away. I keep going back to these images, I feel so lucky to have witnessed these threatened beauties so close. ✨ #glossyblackcockatoo #endangeredspecies #darkinjung #centralcoast #inspiration #natureismymuse https://www.instagram.com/p/CaVYg8whSU4/?utm_medium=tumblr
