Something I think about regarding Sammy is that she is the most stagnant of the N6 when you compare her journey from CC to CT. But also that she's the only member of the N6 who hasn't made connections outside the Camp Fam.
Yaz went to college/therapy and made friends with people there, Ben went to college and met Gia and started dating her, Kenji started his own rock climbing thing and has his students, and Darius joined the DPW and has his co-workers, including Ronnie.
The only other person who doesn't make meaningful connections outside the N6 is Brooklynn. It's an interesting comparison because they're also the least changed from the time skip. What I mean is we can see noticeable differences in how the other characters have grown:
Kenji went from rich kid to humble teacher, Ben went from germaphobe kid to survivor to conspiracy college guy, Yaz went from track star to this really underratedly smart psychology student working to help people resolve trauma, and Darius went from dino-loving kid to realistic dinosaur professional who doesn't quiet have the same magic in his interest in dinosaurs, he's become far more realistic and level headed and less excitable about them.
Sammy is still a ranch girl, and Brooklynn is still trying to unbox everything. They've clung to things that for both of them isolated them from the rest of the camp fam. Brooklynn's investigations likely triggered the hit on her and her friends because she was digging, while Sammy's ranch has become her own isolation from the others.
I think those reasons are going to be what drives both of them to have a arc in season 4. I think. Sammy's arc is going to be her realizing she doesn't know who she wants to be and as far as her and Yaz I think instead of them getting back together in a traditional sense I think it's going to be a conversation where Sammy asks Yaz to wait because she has to figure out her own stuff, and because Yaz loves Sammy she'll wait for Sammy. It would be a really nice parallel to Sammy waiting for Yaz at therapy; now it's Yaz's turn to give Sammy the same grace Sammy gave Yaz and the same opportunity to improve herself and come back.
I don't know how this will translate to Dinostar, maybe in a sense where Yasammy is a feel of acceptance and patience while letting your partner have the space to find out who they are as an individual, Dinostar would be an opposite, Brooklynn reminds Darius of the love he had for dinosaurs as a kid and reignites that love and kind of reverses back to good times while Yasammy represents preparing for the future.
