Soooo I hear ur a fan of dashton? 😏 understandable, i agree, it is a delicious classic . . . Sooo are they a couple in ur au? Become a couple? Dating during the story arc with the Octonauts?

How'd they first meet? 😳 prolly on the job I'd suspect (when whoever got hired first met the other during their interview perhaps?) 🤔 ive seen a lotta "they were friends in college" HCs around but personally im not a fan of that idea TvT no hate tho, to each their own <3 . . . Sooooo how'd that go in YOUR beautiful au, pretty lady? o3o ✨️

"Coffee Corner"

Dashi and Shellington hadn't ever properly sat down before this. Their training had always taken them elsewhere, and it wasn't until the Octopod was ready to shove off for their first mission that the crew actually had a chance to get to know one another.

They had one final day to go about the shops of London, enjoying their very last interactions with society before being shipped off to heaven knows where. It was a very foggy day, the rain leaving a chill that caused the crew to find themselves in a small coffee shop across the street from a quaint little bookstore.

Dashi was the one to invite Shellington to her table, nursing her raspberry tea while he buried himself in his books. It wasn't until the canine began to ask questions about his studies, that he really began to open up.

As he babbled on and on about a reefs and the impact they had on the ocean, she found herself growing fonder and fonder for this boy she hadn't quite had the pleasure of getting to know. before

For Dashi it was "love at first nerd fact", but for Shellington it took him a little longer to realize his crush on Dashi. The crew was (and still is) very supportive of course, especially when it came to helping Dashi find new "date" ideas.

When the Vegimals entered the equation, it seemed to only strengthen the friendship Dashi and Shellington had created. Of course neither of them have confessed yet, but maybe soon we'll get the chance of witnessing such a sweet and innocent exchange. But of course . . . only time will tell.

This one was both super fun to make and very hard to make at the same time. I ended up creating an entire background scene only to realize that 10% of it would actually be seen through the windows . . .

I've always flip flopped on my love for Dashi X Shellington and Dashi X Paani. Just because they're so wholesome. And I hate to say it (/j) @calamaroo, but it's your fault my Dashton obsession has resurfaced~

(I didn't know Dashton was so popular until recently. I also didn't know about the "college" headcanon until I saw your Ask)

I really only have three other Octonauts based ships, one of which I'm very shy to show because I don't want to upset anyone with another Octonaut X Oc.

I've already done that with Emma and Kwazii, and I know I'm already playing with fire with that one. (Even if it was the inspiration for this story) I just know it's an overdone thing in the fandom so I don't want to draw attention to it unless you guys actually want to see it.

If you'd like to see those other ships let me know, I'm just a little shy about making art for them unless someone asks . . . 👉👈

Not that anyone's been hostile to me on the subject, I just don't want to risk it because I know how some people are and I don't want to accidentally ruin it for myself. Oc X Canon is my favorite thing to make, but I know it annoys some people . . .

This didn't turn out how I wanted it to but eh, I just think its be cute if shellington fell asleep on dashis shoulder and held her hand cuz thats what sea otters do lol

And while shellington is sleep talking and muttering about random sea species dashi Is just having A Realization 😭 like "oh wait I actually love this guy omg I actually adore him how did I not realize"

I have the headcannon that the vegimals call the octonauts by familial names.

Shellington = dad Dashi = mom Barnacles = uncle Tweak = aunt Peso = cousin Inkling = grandpa

and for Kwazii he accidentally influenced them into calling him matey.

all the vegimals nicknames for them are in vegimalese obviously. it's really funny.
