this may or may not come as a surprise, but @fluffy-papaya and i have done some thinking-things-over and determined that the DATD sequel -- holy waterfall -- is probably not going to happen. don't get me wrong, we still have a lot of love for it, but to paraphrase fluffy: neither of us are particularly interested in the life series at the moment, and there's a rather large disconnect between what we wanted the story to be and the current state of life series fandom.
this is not intended to be a depressing post, however! instead, we'd like to take this opportunity to tell you more about the sequel that wasn't and where it might have gone -- possibly some insight into our current project if you read between the lines, probably not. i might dig around in our dms for some rough-draft prose that would've made up the structure of the fic, i'll definitely talk more about why we picked the title song (god knows your local solar system is still obnoxious as hell about Aesop Rock), just about anything you could ever want to know is officially on the table.
your main characters for holy waterfall would have been, in this order: Impulse, Scar, Ren, (possibly) Grian, (technically) RK and Martyn. in particular, the story would have followed Impulse's attempts to rationalize his guilt at playing the game, Scar's attempts to put the game behind him, Ren's attempts to get closure for what happened between him and Scar, and Grian's attempts to figure out what the hell went wrong in what was supposed to be a fun miniseries with friends.
