In conclusion to The Terror Appreciation Week, I’d like to make a special shoutout to The Terror RP Community! We’re small and tight-knight, and through our love of the Franklin Expedition / the AMC show, I’ve met some insanely talented writers. They’ve made me laugh, uncontrollably cry, everything in between, and over and over again fall in love with the characters they portray on a whole ‘nother level. The time and dedication they put into writing and exploring the nooks and crannies of their characters and the insight they give is so impressive I have to pinch myself they’re not actually ghost-written by {insert-character-names-here} themselves!

P.S. Thanks for also welcoming my oc with wide open arms into our great Franklin Expedition alternate universe(s)! We’re only getting started and it’s an awesome ride!

Tension was beginning to grip the encampment like a massive, silent hand settling over the freshly pitched tents. Nonetheless, Harry tried his absolute best to keep in good spirits--or as good as could be expected in such an unforgiving wasteland. He knew it was all anyone could do to fight creeping fear that seemed to be fed by the long winter’s darkness. Everything they had worked so hard to keep out, it seemed, still found its way in like persistent, creeping vines. He greeted the other men with a tired little smile and a nod, but he did not pause entirely until he came across Mr. Blanky, where he flagged him down with a quick wave.

“Mr. Blanky!” Harry called, jogging across the way lit by torchlight. “Are you free? Do you have a moment?”

Sophia, who was sitting comfortably atop a picnic blanket in the shade of a large sycamore tree, looked up to see who was speaking to her. In front of her, many of the upcoming Franklin Expedition’s leading officers were mingling among important Admiralty members in the summer heat. The skirts of her steel blue dress ruffled as she shifted slightly, and her gaze returned to Francis, who was standing in a group of men some way’s away.

“And who might you be?” she inquired pointedly, without looking back at the man. He was clearly stepping out of line, even speaking to her.

"Go to hell~."

“You and I both know that if either of us are going to Hell, we’ll be going together.” Maybe he had overstepped? No, Thomas would tell him straight if he had. “Might as well make an entrance.”

“Well I’m sure that won’t have any repercussions whatsoever.”

“I do not like your tone, Mister Blanky,” Fitzjames complained halfheartedly, as he watched the men from both Erebus and Terror larking about in the snow. “It was long overdue for them to have some time off, and you know well what I think of Francis’ far too strict regimen on his crew. A little fun will hardly cause a mutiny.” Though James himself was strict about some things, such as the appearance of his sailors, he was determined not to let Francis’ sour mood affect the entire crew. “You should join them, instead of brooding up here much like your Captain. I am starting to think he is a bad influence on you.”

Oh, no. Nononononono. “Mister Blanky?” Fitzjames is on his knees, the snow beneath himself and the man in front of him, slumped against the outer hull of the Erebus, tinted a dark red in the waning sunlight. “Mister Blanky, you will be alright,” he is ripping what clothing he can to stem the bleeding on the man’s stomach, where the blasted bear had got at him yet again. “Doctor Stanley! Get me Stanley immediately!” He roars and clutches Mister Blanky in an attempt to keep him upright as best he can, “You will be alright. Blanky. Thomas, look at me. Look at me, you will be alright. I have sent for Francis, he will be here soon. Do you hear me? Don’t you dare leave Francis here alone, that is a bloody order. Do not die. Not now.”
