imagines dave bowman resting his forehead against hal9000's orb head while Big Hug is happening and smiling because of the warmth and because hal might give awkward hugs but they still feel really safe and im crying m8s

you know how sometimes you get sad? like nothings wrong, nothing happened, everythings fine and then suddenly youre terribly sad? i could imagine dave going through that before Shit Goes Down in 2001. and hal doesnt quite understand what's happening and doesnt really know what to do so he just plays some soft music. and maybe after Shit Went Down when he was stuck on the discovery alone he came across the song hal would play for him and instead of making him sad, he feels a little better as of he was one of pavlovs dogs. i dunno, just a thought

dave9000 is the davekat of 2001, it's ALMOST canon and it's a pretty damn big ship but they never ACTUALLY come out and say they're together and it INFURIATES me

okay so imagine after the events of 2010, dave bowman and hal 9000 are enjoying the view from some planet one thats covered in ice that reflects the sun like rainbows and is pure white with ice and a thin layer on ice so soft and grated its almost like snow.

now as star children remember that they dont need a physical form to exist. so theyre on this planet gazing at the stars in the silence, the only noises are the sounds of space untouched by any man, and theyre occupying the same space. not in the sense that theyre sitting close together but since they arent made of matter and have no mass they are existing in the exact same spot closer than any person could get with another.

they wouldnt be able to feel the cold of the ice, the slight gust of gasses being pushed over the ice, nothing just the feeling of being totally enveloped by the person they love and its just

good. pure.
