The Pace Report: "Form to Stretch" The Sarah Elizabeth Charles Interview
Welcome to another edition of The Pace Report featuring vocalist Sarah Elizabeth Charles and SCOPE performing music from her latest CD "Free of Form". This is her third solo release after two critically-acclaimed releases "Red" and "Inner Dialogue".
Sarah hails from Springfield, Massachusetts, where she started to sing as a kid. She attended the New School here in New York City and paid dues singing and studying with the likes of NEA Jazz Master Sheila Jordan and jazz legends George Cables and Cecil Bridgewater.
Scope is the name of Sarah's quartet which features John Davis on drums, Jordan Peters on guitar, David Cutler on bass, and Jesse Elder on keyboards. Sarah and I sat down after her performance at Silvana in Harlem to about CD "Free to Form", collaborating with trumpeter Christian Scott who also guest appears as well as co-produced the project, and her writing about current events in her music.
