Robert Rabiah joins Russell Crowe and Daniel MacPherson in feature film The Beast In Me.
The MMA action film is directed by Tyler Atkins (Bosch and Rockit starring Luke Hemsworth), Written by David Frigerio (Land of Bad), and Produced by David Frigerio, Ruthanne Frigerio, Myles Nestel and Kyle Smithson. Production companies are Broken Open Pictures, Storm Alley Entertainment, Armagh and Eclectik Vision.
The story is about a former fighter (MacPherson) who suffers a personal tragedy. With the help of a seasoned trainer (Crowe), he sets out to avenge the past by fighting an MMA bout against a dangerous opponent.
Rabiah said, “I’m very excited about this feature film as it will be my second time working with David Frigerio and the team at Broken Open Pictures. We recently wrapped on the film Land of Bad in Queensland (also starring Russell Crowe with Liam Hemsworth, Luke Hemsworth, Milo Ventimiglia and Ricky Whittle) and the experience was spectacular. David is a visionary and knows how to make epic films for an international audience.
“Moreover, I am equally excited to be working with Director Tyler Atkins. We recently chatted on the phone about my character and the tone of the narrative, and he had me at Raging Bull parallels. I also like that he didn’t see my character, OMAR, as an outright villain, but rather as someone who is a part of the colourful canvas that is the fight game. Also, when we both started chatting about our love for Australian UFC champions like Robert Whittaker and Alexander Volkanovski, I knew I really wanted in.”
Frigerio said, “This is a powerful story about redemption, love, forgiveness and family.”
Atkins said, “I see this as a tribute to the fighters I admire so much and the enormous amounts of physical and emotional pain they’ve endured.”
The Beast In Me’is set to start production in late March/early April.
