So last night...
I sat next to some fine gents at the iconic Mickey's Diner in St. Paul. And, as luck would have it, they were in a band. I talk a lot about what makes the Twin Cities music scene unique, but I generally don't mention some of the musicians I meet while I'm out and about in the world doing my thing.
Because, like, it's a lot.
So, I thought I'd give a quick shoutout to some of the memorable ones as thank you for making the Twin Cities the kind of place I want to live. Day Moths I met Ollie at the Amsterdam where we talked about his two dogs Daisy and Bowie. His sister created the artwork on the CD he gave me which was, in a word, beautiful and the way music should be shared. Spoiler alert: you guys will be seeing more of them soon. Jezebel Jones I met Jezebel at the Amsterdam and yes, her hair really is that red, but she is an absolute delight. Robots from the Future I met Reynold at the Minneapolis Indie Xpo, playing his guitar and selling his comic wares. He was so excited about the music the band was creating and I predict a bright future for them. Dan Israel I met Dan at the Amsterdam (sensing a theme here, folks?) the evening before their Grand Opening. Ever the gentlemen, he gave me a couple of his cds, but they don't even compare to what it's like seeing him live. Simply put: Dan is an amazing musician and I hold much respect for him. Mike Midwestern I met Mike outside the Orpheum as I was walking into the Bon Iver concert. His enthusiasm, passion, and excitement for the music he creates is one of the reasons why I love the Twin Cities so much. And of course, the band I met last night at Mickey's Diner? Save the Girl A group of spry young lads who are relatively new as a band, but some of the nicest group of guys you'd ever want to meet...or at least eat your Denver Omelet next to. They are the reason for this post. To all of you...
