OC Week Day Two: Present
1. At what times do they feel the most ‘in the moment’?
Inara feels the most "in the moment" when she's making love. Warm breath on her skin, fingertips pressed against sweaty flesh. Her lover receives her complete and utmost attention at all times, all night long.
2. What is their biggest worry right now?
Inara's biggest worry is probably the same throughout the course of the Blight - Am I going to be alive tomorrow? With that comes all the questions like "What will happen if I die? Would it be better or worse for the rest of them if I was not here? Who will stop the Blight if I die? Will Loghain be able to defeat the Darkspawn on his own? Why are the Grey Wardens necessary to stop a Blight?"
3. About what are they most hopeful right now?
It's not so much at the beginning of the Blight, but about three or four months in when she starts to get pretty close with Alistair, he takes the stage as her biggest hope. She hopes that he can save her. She hopes that he can love her. She hopes that they can stay together.
4. How secure do they feel in their present situation?
Inara never finds any real security in the Blight until she and Anora make their alliance, and Alistair renounces his claim to the throne. With her and Alistair's relationship secured and the support of the Queen, she actually starts to think, "Hey, yeah, maybe I can actually do this!".
Eamon's support gives her no amount of comfort at all, and actually just puts things more in jeopardy, what with Alistair being pushed towards the throne. But Anora's means the world to her, especially when it stays steady even after Alistair executes her father.
5. What are they doing with their lives?
Pre-Blight, Inara is a glorified errand runner for Wade and Herren and spends a very brief period(six months) working as a "companion" at one of the noble taverns in Denerim. During the Blight, she is more or less saving the world. She likes telling people about the second one quite a bit more.
