Day 364 of 365; It's the second to the last day of the year and I'm contemplating on my plamodel purchases. 9 bootleg kits from various Chinese brands and 9 legitimate kit from Bandai and Kotobukiya (not to mention the MG Heavyarms EW by TTHongli as well as the scraped Rx78-2 that I sold, and the second Eva 01 because I messed up the elbows of the first one) I'm starting to appreciate the legitimate kits more than the bootlegs. I used to advocate openness to 3rd party brands and non-discrimination of such but having been exposed to both new releases of the two, I am now inclined to recommend the legitimate Bandai or Kotobukiya kits. They're a little pricey and sometimes, hard to find especially if you're into collecting certain sets, but it's all worth it. Next year, I'll be more brand conscious when it comes to plamodels. I'm not trying to turn into a Purist or what but from what I have experience from 2016 until this year, it actually costs more to make a bootleg kit look presentable and I think it's a good way training intermediate modelers like myself(if there is such a thing). It made me realize that with effort, a substandard plastic model could look great. As Maggie and Shahryar of GBD said, lots of love will bring forth the beauty of a GunPla. Anyway, my goal in the first 6 months of 2019 will be to save money for my PhD and whenever I have spare, I'll try to slowly replace my existing bootleg kits like the MG Seed boys and my HG 00 collection.
