When you walk the streets of Amaranth you see the future. You walk past the plate glass window of a store and see yourself coming out carrying your groceries, or a book, or a little figurine you never thought you'd buy. In the courts you see yourself brought before the judge's bench, or behind it, or in the jurors' box, or even as the bailiff. You pass a house and see yourself robbing it, or living in it, or moving out of it. When you cross paths with a stranger you can see every possible permutation of your relationship - love or hate or indifference or all three. And all these possible selves look at you and wink, or smile, or sneer.
The best way to go about in Amaranth is blindfolded, stumbling through the present like the citizens of every other city.

The library’s velvet curtains are sanguine in the hushed light of the candelabra on the writing desk. While your attention is elsewhere, I slip into the room through the tunnel behind the portrait and breathe all but one of the candles out. Whirling to see who’s there, you find nothing beyond the tiny circle of light cast by the single burning taper. I wait to strike, still and silent as a cat, until you have taken up the candle and turned to search, until I know I need not see the betrayal in your eyes. Only the soft touch of dark leather over your face, only the quick, kind snap of your guiltless neck, only the gentlest lowering of your frame to the carpet.

May I ask you for another general stitchomancy? What does the sun say?
Of course you may- for you, I’ve chosen Fables de la Fontaine.
Funnily enough, you were offered quite a large chunk of text- it is the entirety of the fable “The Dog that Dropped the Substance for the Shadow”. It is as follows:
This world is full of shadow chasers, // most easily deceived
Should I enumerate these racers, // I should not be believed.
I send them all to Aesop’s dog, // Which, crossing water on a log,
Espied the meat he bore, below; // To seize its image, let it go;
Plunged in; to reach the shore was glad
With neither what he hoped, nor what he’d had.
Fables are useful for stichomancy- not particularly why I chose the book, but an added benefit all the same. This specific one is well known, a warning against greed and a reminder to be watchful. The world is full of those who cannot see clearly- full of avarice or ignorance. Now it appears you are not one of these people, however the warning still applies. Not the lesson of being content with what you have, but rather: watch twice.
Look closer- do not be deceived. Check twice, watch your step, and do not chase the shadow when you could chase truth. You are not so easily mistaken- trust in that.
Also- why settle for a reflection of the sunbeam, when the dawn will treat you wonderfully?
I hope that the passage is clear to you, and perhaps you will choose to take a message from different lines than I, or a new image made from these words. I won’t be offended- words are a deeply personal thing. All the best to you!
Rest well.

Might I ask for one too, friend?
Of course! You’re sneaking on in as the last of the evening.
It seems like there’s a lot going on and a lot to balance when it comes to your priorities. Look towards your wards, protections, and your connections to your spirits, deities, or other magical allies. While I see no impending disaster, having an unshakable foundation in these things seems important at the moment. Be mindful not to let them slip or be forgotten as you pursue other projects or goals.
If you're still doing one word readings, might I ask for one? If so, my word is "truth." ☀️
Oh goodness, it exploded. And slipped away, backwards, away from watchful eyes.
Was that? It was. The bones of an infant, fast asleep, alone in the world save the skull of a god. No blanket but the sky, no bed but the dirt.
They circle overhead. But they were no scavengers- no, these quiet beings waited, circling the sky, watching. They were there to take you home.
I hope this means something to you. It was the most peculiar of the readings I’ve done with this technique, the most emotional, the most clear. Feedback is always appreciated, and take care and take comfort.
Rest well.

heh, sorry for bargin' in but... heard ya weren't eatin properly!
You gotta eat well, yknow? helps with sleep and headaches and productivity; Protein bars aren't gonna cut it! (I think they're protein????? admittedly I did once live off of junk food and it wasn't great but now I eat full meals so I'm good now)
also I really want more phantom famiglia :p
Huh? H-how do you know about that?
They were energy bars though, not protein. I am trying to eat better now at least and my friends keep checking up on me to make sure I'm eating well. Please be patient with the release of Phantom Famiglia. It takes a while to write manga but I do try to be consistent with the release schedule
