The fall semester of 2005 brings with it the start of Ethan Ramos’s final year of high school. In the small town of Upshur, nestled deep in the evergreen forests at the heart of Northeast Texas, where Ethan has a troubled history reaching back to his childhood, the memories and guilt of his past indiscretions remain with him, though are long forgotten by others during the passing of the interim years of his exile, no one seeming to know of or recall the events of his past upon return to his hometown 3 years ago.

Now, a prodigious athlete and member of a nationally renowned football dynasty, questions emerge of legacy and purpose and the future that awaits him and his classmates, propelling them ever-further towards the coming end of their education and the start of their adulthood—of the time where they will be left to navigate the rest of their lives all on their own, with nothing more than their own discretion to guide them.

And for Ethan, suffering an injury early into the season that threatens an end to his athletic career as well as his future prospects, he soon finds himself welcomed into a small circle of unlikely friends, including a reunion with someone from his past with whom he shares a complicated history, whose eyes bear the striking green of the verdant forests of a home and a childhood Ethan had long ago come to miss.

With the passage of each day comes the promise of change, of consequences destined to reverberate throughout each of Ethan’s relationships with friends, family, and classmates, culminating in the pivotal events of their final days of class and their inevitable graduation.
