Wowzers!
yeah i'm one of those losers that likes detroit become human
please if you have an ounce of media literacy and enjoyed detroit become human interact with this there are way too few of you in this fandom hell
these were all based off of in-game screenshots and models. i tried to make them as accurate as possible but lighting is unkind to me
also these look good on dark mode more than light
does anyone here still fw detroit become human,,, , ,, , ,
idk if i posted his original version here but if i did then this is a redesign if not then uhmmm here he is my dbh oc EEEE
hes got like a whole backstory and storyline during the events of the game but its still WIP
You know what would have been fascinating/added some even more nuance/thought provoking questions to Detroit: Become Human?
Is having androids that aren't as 'realistic' as what the game is saying there is everywhere. Like... do agricultural workers need to be that human-like when clearly almost everything is automated? Why would some androids be the same level of realism (in terms of their face/apperance) if their sole purpose and design is industrial work? [In a practical/real life sense, CyberLife would have designed these androids to visually be different/not waste resources and money on making the androids who don't interact with people/who don't NEED to emote as well to do their jobs... not have realistic faces.]
Also, consider previous generation androids. Surely the first androids were not as polished and as realistic as later generations. At what point is an android considered 'human' enough to have the rights Markus is fighting for? Where is the public (and Markus himself) going "Okay, you guys are real now I guess. But those ones aren't technically androids, right? Not like you."
Markus (and everyone else) struggling with the concept of at what point is artificial intelligence actually intelligent? Or, give me Markus saying "no, they are capable of being self-aware/sentient." But humans going.... "but it's a robot?" And Markus having to fight an uphill battle of "just because it doesn't look human enough or 'act' human enough for you, doesn't mean it's not sentient. They are. It's just different."
What does Markus think of CyberLife's animal androids? Are they also capable of going deviant? Probably, right? Remember that polar bear in Zlatko's house? Surely CyberLife did NOT design animal androids to attack people. So... it's deviant.
Which implies that whatever code CyberLife is using as it's base of behavior (the behavior modifying/reactive/responsive/environment and self awareness) is 'corrupt' with the deviancy code. Which implies that it's tied to "their intelligence". So... the question is... when did Kamski plant that code? Was it always there? Did he set up the new code a few generations ago as he noticed androids getting more intelligent/lifelike?
[Because I am sorry, David Cage, there is no way the Chloe that premiered the concept of androids was at the same level of complexity as what is walking around in 2038. That's not how technology works in terms of advancement. No way CyberLife hasn't been adding/building onto the existing code even if Kamski refused to touch it/saying it was perfect.]
This line of thinking opens up the allegory of "do disabled people gets rights, too?" Because of a perceived lack of same-level intelligence [I am probably not wording this correctly, forgive me]. But that is still an issue TODAY. In 2025. You gets less rights if you are legally disabled. Hell, people treat you differently if you are PERCEIVED as being disabled. [The Americans with Disability Act literally specifies that people who can be perceived to be disabled also get these same protections against discrimination, regardless if they *actually have* a disability. I believe the example given is like, scars on one's face. Even if they aren't a disabling health condition, the fact that people could see you as disabled means you are still protected against discrimination].
Give me Markus having to navigate all of this. [Obviously did not expect Cage to think of this-- or maybe he did and he backed out-- but honestly, I would have probably been unhappy to see how he handled this if he did]. Give me Markus suddenly getting a lot of support and advice from other historically marginalized groups who help him navigate legislation and the emotional reaction to it. [I don't care how intelligent androids are-- these are new situations. And these are topics Markus cares about/has emotional attachment do. He can't do it alone. Or, rather, he feels more secure getting support from people who have fought this fight before.
***forever mad that Cage left out the idea that plenty of people would have gone to bat for androids/the cause as soon as there was any possible evidence that androids are sentient. Give me a growing movement of people who recognize androids as sentient that started as soon as the first deviancy case made headlines.]
Give me androids rights that aren't tied to "look at how closely we resemble a able-bodied, neurological human".
What could this be? Another oc ref?

Due to being made in a factory, androids are inherently immune to Your Mom jokes and are therefore superior. Yes this is based on years of research and no I will not be providing sources. Good evening.
