Deviant!Connor and Alive!Cole AU
Basically, Connor becomes a big brother to Cole, who is alive, and they spend most of the time just trying to cope with the direction their lives are heading in.
RK800 Connor is released roughly five years prior to the actual stories timeline (2033-34) in which deviation has yet to be diagnosed in any present android of the time. Like in canon, he is the most advanced prototype model for the Cyberlife RK series; however, his purpose (instead of hunting deviants) is to assist human law enforcement (specifically the Atlanta PD rather than the Detroit PD).
(I know, technically he would be a RK600 or RK700, but for the purpose of the storyline, he’s an extremely early release of the RK800 and RK700 was the active model at the time)
Connor’s ultimate purpose in being given to the APD is to see if androids were viable agents in the police force. He is assigned to another police officer who is given “admin permissions” over Connor, making it impossible for Connor to go against direct orders. Connor is verbally and physically abused by the jerk that he is assigned to and who is hellbent on proving Connor’s uselessness.
As Connor is either benched half of the time or shuffled off to another officer, he’s often in the precinct sitting at his desk looking over case files, just trying to be useful.
Cole, in this AU, is in foster care after surviving the car accident that allegedly killed both his mother and father when he meets Connor. Cole’s latest foster parent is in the police force and the particular officer likes to bring Cole in often (to much of the other officers annoyance), partially because Cole has been noted to be a flight risk.
Cole ends up hiding under Connor’s desk half of the time. No one thinks to ask the android where the kid is, so Connor never registers that he should notify someone that Cole spends most of the day with him.
Connor goes deviant roughly three months after they meet as a result of his interactions with Cole and is prepared to be sent back to Cyberlife and disassembled.
There’s a bit more detail to it (which I won’t delve into in this post), but Cole gets Connor out of the holding cell (maybe they shouldn’t have let him wander around the place) and they both run for it.
