DC!AU - Robin!Sasuke

Pretty much just based on an idea I had a while back about how Batman might end up adopting Sasuke if he was in the DC universe.

I mean, think about it.

Skilled orphan, parents (and the rest of his family) dead, a burning desire for justice and vengeance... I think it’s very possible that Batman would see himself in the child and take them under his wing.

Age: 13-14 at the start

Height: 4'10"

Weight: 80lbs

History: Sasuke Uchiha was the younger child of Fugaku and Mikoto Uchiha, immigrants from Japan to America who resided in Gotham City. After they had moved there and made a life for themselves, despite the crime ridden city, many of their other relatives moved over as well.

It was not until years later that Sasuke found out that his close knit family were all criminals, but his brother Itachi found out long before he did. After several years of helping his family commit crimes, Itachi killed them all and after Sasuke confronted him, and was knocked out, vanished. Of course Batman heard about this and investigated, hearing about the child that was the lone survivor, and upon interviewing the child for clues, found himself in the child after his parents murder: Hurt, angry, with a strong desire for vengeance. Batman took the child into his care and trained them as his next Robin.

While Batman knew the history of Uchiha as being fast learners and skilled shinobi, the child's progress shocked him, but also worried him. Sasuke grew skilled quickly, especially gifted in feats of agility and with using batarangs and a wooden training sword, he was using his vengeance as fuel, making no secret that his goal was to find and kill his older brother. And while Batman tried to dissuade him from this goal, the only exult from this was that Sasuke gradually stopped mentioning it to his mentor.

Batman was also somewhat disquieted by Sasuke's ruthlessness. Batman was not exactly one to hold back from harming criminals, but he was certain that Sasuke would have killed some of them had Batman not been there to stop him.

Several months after helping Batman, following a near death experience, a change occurred in Sasuke. His irises had changed to red, with markings around the pupil, starting with two in one and one in the other, gradually maturing to two in both and then three in both. This also gave Sasuke the ability to use ninjutsu and genjutsu, but he would not learn this for a while.

This was not the only change. Sasuke became faster, more agile, and his eyesight was sharper and he became more perceptive, along with the ability to mimic any move he saw even once flawlessly. One might expect someone who gained such gifts to become lazy, but if anything, he trained harder than before.

This worried Batman even more, since the longer Sasuke went without any clues on Itachi's whereabouts, partly because Itachi was good at avoiding detection, partly because Bruce was purposefully keeping the information from him, the angrier and more impatient Sasuke got.

This eventually escalated into a row after Sasuke put a criminal into intensive care, and Sasuke found out that Bruce had been keeping information on Itachi's whereabouts from him. The row escalated further into a fight, after which Sasuke left the Batcave and Wayne Manor behind, leaving his Robin suit behind. He took on a new identity as 'Shinobi' and continued to fight crime, but it seemed the row with Batman had done him some good, going a little easier on most criminals and gathering information on Itachi on his own, occasionally clashing with Batman when their paths crossed.

Eventually, once gathering enough information on Itachi's location, Sasuke left Gotham City to kill him, upon which he found an Itachi already on the brink of death from an illness. Itachi told him about ninjutsu and genjutsu, why he had killed the family, and Sasuke reluctantly gave Itachi a mercy killing, and returned to Gotham.

Upon returning, he went to visit Batman to tell him what had happened, and offer his services to him once again as his Robin, and whether Batman accepted him or not, continued to hone his skills and try to find whatever he could on ninjutsu and genjutsu and learn it.

Costume: Sasuke did eschew a fair bit of the tradition when he became a Robin, balking at some of the previous designs.

He chose a bandana mask to cover his eyes, and opted for tight pants rather than the ‘underwear and tights' design. He understood that looser clothes would be a detriment but he didn’t want to go quite that far. He also opted for tabi boots rather than the regular ones. He also had a couple of pouches on a belt to carry batarangs as well as a sheath to hold a sturdy shinai style sword capable of discharging electric shocks, being his chosen weapon.

Under the guise of Shinobi, his outfit was quite different, wearing darker colours as well as a hood. His eyes were uncovered with this outfit, as well as having a metal mask covering his nose and mouth, with a built in gas mask. His clothes were also thicker and harder wearing, since he needed to stay protected since he no longer had Batman watching his back. He still opted for shinai rather than actual blades, although these ones were just regular kendo swords rather than the high tech ones he had access to as Robin.

A fairly close approximation of his outfit as Shinobi would be Barton's 'Ronin' outfit from Avengers Endgame.

Skills: He is very skilled with batarangs, swords, and bows and arrows, likely good enough to impress Green Arrow, but when crime fighting, he prefers a blunt, shinai styled sword.

Physically, his skills are more in feats of agility and flexibility rather than martial strength or endurance, and his agility only got more impressive when his eyes changed, as well as being able to copy moves and react faster than most would believe possible.

Weaknesses: If Sasuke runs out of batarangs or is otherwise disarmed of weapons, he is at a slight disadvantage against those who know how to fight well, although he can rely on his skill and agility to avoid attacks until he can get a weapon or until help arrives.

Blinding him is also a problem, moreso than it would be for most, because of how much he relies on his eyes. He is by no means helpless, since he can still hear, but blinding him with tear gas or something similar would be more of a disadvantage for him than most.

Information: Sasuke is a fair bit more ruthless than Batman. He doesn’t get out of hand and brutalise criminals normally, but he cannot fathom why Batman doesn’t kill people who have had way too many second chances and have shown absolutely no signs or remorse or wanting to be reformed, like the Joker, and definitely thinks it would be a better option to kill people like that, in order to protect everyone else from them. For the most part though, he is happy to follow Batman's 'no killing' rule, although he will eventually rack up a body count of more than just Itachi.

Also, this is open to change depending on who I’m interacting with. And can be picked up at any point during the history. You want to start it from when Bruce first met him? That’s cool. From when Bruce started training him? That’s good. From a random point when Sasuke was acting as Batman's Robin? Sure! Hell, even wanna go deep and go to when Bruce rowed with Sasuke about putting someone in intensive care, or when Sasuke found out Batman was hiding information on Itachi from him? Or maybe you want to see how a clash between the two would go when Sasuke's acting as Shinobi? Maybe Batman actively working to track Sasuke down, whether to stop his vigilante actions or to try and convince him to return to the manor? I’m fine with any of that, just say! I’m also fine with Sasuke interacting with other Robins, Batgirls, or other D.C. heroes or villains!

Okay so Shiro is the mild mannered reporter that’s nice and no one suspects. He got injured w kryptonite so he has the scar and white tuft but when he uses his superpowers they temporarily go away due to healing bc I said so. He’s trying okay.

Katie and Matt are twins and the heirs to the biggest company in Gotham. When their parents died, Katie stayed out of the public eye, becoming reculusive. Matt took over the company at 18. He did the whole fake playboy thing and Pidge was actually his nickname. When he goes missing, Katie takes over and pretends to be him so no one will know he’s gone. She believes he’s still out there, but if word gets out he’s gone then things will go south.

SuperShiro just wants to help the world. BatPidge wants to find her brother. And also protect Gotham.

As a fellow grandma, can I ask for a Gundam Wing!AU or a Detective Conan!AU?

my age is catching up on me and im sobbing loool so since im not really that fan of mecha and stuff, im gonna go with detective conan au hahaha

- which is honestly hard bc while ran is the dense one (wwx trait), conan/shinichi has more of wwx’s personality??? so im fcking things up and go with WWX being the one to shrink as a kid OR maybe the drug does a diff thing and puts his consciousness in a different body aka MXY’s (don’t ask me how bc even idk lol)- the lans are part of the police force and instead of them being teenagers like in DC, let’s make older so maybe mid-20s bc i need them more mature haha then ofc WWX is in an independent detective agency with JC so the two of them does stuff - well, JC’s 90% just making sure WWX doesn’t end up getting killed or in jail and since i love JYL as well, im inserting her in this agency as she’s the one who does info gathering through the net and stuff (that’s her sideline bc she has a cooking vlog and a restaurant to run as well haha)- can i fck up MXY’s age as well?? let’s make him same age as the kid!trio so the group that WWX hangs out with is LJY, JL, and LSZ- so anyhow, LWJ and WWX are “hanging out” bc obv WWX doesn’t know these are dates when he sees suspicious activity and goes after those men and ends up getting in trouble with the whole body thing and only JC+JYL knows about him as they try to track down that criminal organization- let’s have JGY as sort of the Kaito Kid here who’s all suave but demonic in the “pranks” to the officers except for the head of the robbery division (LXC) oh but he does enjoy fcking things up for the head of the homicide division (NMJ) - LWJ works under NMJ in the homicide division together with SL (yes im yi city arc crew trash so im inserting them everywhere)- XY is the partner-in-crime of the infamous Phantom Thief Kaito Kid who ends up accidentally knowing about WWX’s secret and since he’s been idolizing that independent detective since forever, he cajoles himself to joining their team (his sideline job now becomes the partner-in-crime of the JGY lol) - JC hates him obv and JYL just sighs bc did they expect anything diff from WWX’s life- i wanna say sorry to the Wens but not that much bc they can be the criminal organization- WN and WQ used to work for them until they escaped and it was actually WQ who invented the drug that WWX ingested and now they’ve joined forces - A LOT OF ACTION AND CASES- oh, and also a lot of face palming in the detective team with how much of an idiot WWX is over LWJ’s affections for him

Four years later...

Ryou wove his way around the other officers to the entrance to the police station. He had a fifteen minute break and he intended to spend all of it outside.

The case he was working was...frustrating, even with his special skill set. Much as he hated asking for help, he might be better off bringing in Wakana. Actually, her price would probably be too high for him. Maybe Katsuko. She was expensive, too, but if he could get Miyuki to ask, she’d do it for free. But Miyuki was on his honeymoon with Sawamura, so…

Ryou pulled a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket. It was a terrible habit, and he should quit, and for the most part, he had, but even he wasn’t immune to his workplace culture. Kuramochi hadn’t been a fan when he’d found out, but Kuramochi never had to know.

After all, the last time they’d seen each other was last year at a team reunion that had doubled as a kind of friendship anniversary, complete with pictures of their greatest moments. Ryou had brought a cake that said “sorry I stabbed you” on it, which had made Kuramochi break into those characteristic cackles of his. It had been worth it, no matter how much his heart tugged whenever Kuramochi was too close.

Too close, but never close enough.

Maybe he should try dating again. Go to a bar, let someone pretty buy him a drink. But it only ever ended up being meaningless sex, and that didn’t help in the way it used to. It was more depressing than anything else now, chasing what he couldn’t have.  

Ryou scanned his surroundings almost on instinct, noticing and immediately discarding anything that wasn’t important in the moment. It was a habit he’d never be able to kick, and one he didn’t want to. It had kept him alive more than once.

This time, it wasn’t impending death he was warned about.

Kuramochi’s hair and face were distinctive in a crowd, even if he didn’t tower over them. A part of Ryou wanted to sprint to him, appearances be damned, but he felt rooted to the spot. This was a dream. It had to be a dream, or else the case was just getting to Ryou. Kuramochi had been very clear about where he belonged now, and Ryou was doing his level best to respect that.

He owed Kuramochi that, if nothing else.

It wasn’t until Kuramochi was in front of him, fisting a hand in Ryou’s shirt and hauling him in for a kiss that was every bit of fire Ryou had been pretending wasn’t burning him from the inside for over a decade.

Ryou almost didn’t want to pull back, but he had to know, he had to.

“What are you doing here?”

“Barry’s back,” Kuramochi said. “Turns out he was dimension hopping, but he’s back. And Central doesn’t need me anymore.”

Ryou pulled him back in, because Youichi was finally his to keep, and he was never letting go again.
