Day 1: Samantha Paige Davis is the Founder & Executive Director of @blackswanacademy an organization that focuses on making youth (middle & high schoolers) active civic leaders in their communities. #BlackSwanAcademy operates in #Southeast #DC with an engaging #afterschool program for #DCyouth by creating a service learning environment. They #create service projects to serve the communities they live in to see actual change in their communities. They recently held a winter clothing drive with @socksmovement and are currently having an "I Have Black Pride" writing contest (submissions close March 2nd), that gives #scholars an opportunity to win $500 and be showcased at a culminating event! BSA also researches policy trends & legislation that directly helps African American families. Looking to volunteer with youth? They're always looking for volunteers for their after school program!
