Wandering Prague
I know Adam’s Prague apartment has been analyzed to death already, but whatever. Here are some things that have slipped my attention the last time I’ve played, maybe they will be new to someone else.
1. His kitchen area has bowls of oranges, canned veggies, bags labeled as Zdrava Zelenina, (which as a Russian I thought roughly translated as “healthy greens”, but according to Google Translate it means “vegetables vegetables”) and a book called Best Czech Recipes. Adam is trying to be healthier and I’m proud of him. I mean, there’s still so much liquor and cereal everywhere that you could trip on it, but there is an attempt! And even though there is one cigarette pack in the apartment, I haven’t actually seen any ash trays so my HC is that he’s legit trying to cut back. Also, A book about learning to let it go - yas baby, get your life back on track!
2. Are you ever gonna unpack, Adam?
3. Some of the books he owns: Medical Dictionary, Molecular Science of Today, The Science Behind Augmentation, Super Electro Magnetic Fields. He’s trying to get a better understanding of how his body works - his augs, his genetics (specifically the aug compatibility gene). Also, a few years back he told Sarif that “he’s not really into the whole science thing” - now he has science books all over the place. Or it’s just a generic “stack of books” model and I’m reading too much into it.
4. No offense, Adam, but why would you need a hand lotion?
5. If his “captain of the debate team” and his literature selection didn’t scream NERD to you, he also has Xplore magazines (with a satellite in orbit for a cover page) lying around and a telescope (that is actually pointed at the sky, mind you). Also a magazine called CrimeStars but it has Ny’ashia Akim on the cover so I can’t tell if it’s an actual crime-themed magazine or some tabloid bullshit. Honestly, I wouldn’t even be mad if it turned out that Adam was secretly into celebrity gossip or something.
6. Postcards from Detroit pinned to the wall :3 can’t make out who they’re from.
7. A non-broken mirror (you’re doing amazing sweetie), books on learning Czech (with multi-colored sticky notes! nerd) and Icarus images on the cupboard, but that’s nothing new.
8. When you make a save in his place, the location says “poor apartment” - excuse u game but I’ve seen poor apartments and this ain’t what they look like.
I know there are a lot of people who are kind of turned off from the newer Deus Ex games because the protagonist seems boring. I wish they’d give it a go because not only are these games amazing, there’s also so much more to Adam than just his generic buff Stoic McToughGuy aura (JC might fit this stereotype better, but he’s not quite that simple either). This little analysis is just scratching the surface of his character and it doesn’t even touch on his sense of humor or what a sweetheart he really is (if the player so desires, but I think his compassion is pretty much a canon fact).

I tried to draw a female version of Vaclav Koller from Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. I don’t know if she's similar to her male twin or not, but overall I'm happy about the effect. The celluloid style without the contour is quite time-consuming but because of that, images have this nice, smooth vibe I love. I dedicate this to my best friend @malwa1216, who has inspired me with her photo of Vaclav with Snapchat filters and bravely endured agony of accompany me during drawing and also to my sweet boyfriend, who has taught me how to use masks in PS.
Like I kinda feel guilty saying this but so far I don’t like Mankind Divided at all??? Like Deus Ex: Human Revolution really had this genuine and unique feel to it, and MD feels super rushed and impersonal… If I continue to not like it I don’t think I’m gonna keep up with it, and maybe I’ll finally get Horizon Zero Dawn
